Points transfer?

Hello!!

I’m finally in the home stretch for my resale purchase. I was wondering if we would get this years points this year or would have to wait until the use year starts? We’re just wondering for planning reasons! The sellers use year started April 1st and that’s about 6 months away so I’m hoping they transfer this years points for us to use!

You likely won’t receive 2024 points. But you will be able to make reservations with 2025 point for dates after April 1 2025.

Dang okay thanks! We were just wondering what we’d do with all those points but it also kinda sucks that we will have to wait 4-5 months to use points lol. Unless they realign the use year to Jan 1st.

When referring to "2025" points it's usually in reference to the end date of the use year, so technically the points running 4/1/24-3/31/25 would be 2025 points. But I agree, it's not a sure thing now that they're in the second half of their use year - though OP, if current year points don't transfer and if you can verify that no points were used by the prior owner, I would push it with Wyndham and request that they do a points audit. (I do find it ridiculous that Wyndham won't transfer a full year of verifiably unused points.)

Okay! I’ll probably do that. But we’re wedding planning for next October so we won’t be doing *much* traveling so I won’t be super heart broken. But it’d be nice to have them. I did ask the closing officer that’s handling the deed transfer at Wyndham since they emailed me letting me know they were sending the documents to the seller, which I’m surprised I got that email. But it’d be nice to have lol.

Good to know. This seems to be different than some other systems I am used to. The points associated to a use year are based on when the points are awarded. I believe DVC and MVC work like that. Points running from 4/1/24-3/31/25 would be considered 2024 use year since the points are awarded for use starting on 4/1/2024.
