Hello "Madge",

Please "confirm or deny" that once an "RCI" resort has become a "points" resort (at least one "weeks" member has joined the points program), that , in fact", the resort can "cancel" their "points affiliation", and revert back to strictly a "weeks" resort.

Several resorts that I own timeshare in, went to the "points" program---had "very little" "conversion" to points, and wanted to "cancel" the points program, only to be told (by RCI) "SORRY", you are now a "points" resort (within RCI) and will remain a "points" resort. You may NOT revert back to a "weeks" resort, since at "least" one member who owns a timeshare at your resort wants to be in the "points" system.

I would think, that if a resort wanted to "cancel" the points affiliation, they should be able to do so.

Thank you in advance for your "timely" reply !!!

Tony,

I responded to a similar question but from the member's perspective. Members who convert to the Points program would be able to continue in it even if their resort later decided to go back to RCI Weeks.

The resort would simply continue to provide timeshare inventory for any Points members who had already converted, and RCI would allocate the points. However, the resort might no longer need to offer partial week or nightly stays. I cannot say for certain exactly how it might work, but I am not aware of any rule that would prevent resorts from going back to Weeks.

I'll gather feedback from a couple of other sources here and let you know if there's anything more to report.

teepeeca,

Once a resort has sold conversions to Points, they will need to honor those members' conversions. Even if the resort chooses not to continue sales efforts for new conversions, they typically do continue to allow members who request it to pay the money and convert.

Because the resort does still participate in Points through their Points owners, it is still identified as Points-affiliated in our system.
