I'm curious if the news of a pending move to points will impact people's decision on whether to deposit their 2010 weeks with II.

I'm going to wait until July to reserve my week anyway and hopefully something will be announced by then. How about those of you who are going to request weeks this Jan-Mar. Are people going to hold off so as not to miss the 2010 points? Of course they could never move to points at all...

I agree. Until there's an official announcement then I would advise everyone to continue their deposits with Interval International.

Also, they may institute some type of orderly phase in with plenty of notice.

I plan to reserve and deposit as normal. Like others have said, unless I have something official to review, I'm not going to change my normal routine.

Haven't even thought about 2010 weeks yet, will be calling in April for the usual May time and will think about possible trades after. By then TUG will have figured out Marriott's new program (even if Marriott hasn't! :hysterical: ) so, no worries.

You can bet that the change IS coming and there will be a points based system. It will NOT be Marriott rewards points either.

The survey was more about fees, preferences, etc.. than it was about IF.

I may have missed this in reading all the posts between the threads....but if Marriott goes to a points system, will II offer significantly more AC's to entice Marriott owners to stay with the current system and deposit?

I'm sure they will.

I intend to reserve my 2010 weeks in March and deposit them with II. Based on the info I've read, I don't think I would convert to Marriott points. I'll continue using II to exchange my Marriott weeks. If Marriott switches to a points system and I don't like the terms, I'll just put my Marriott weeks for sale on e-bay. Even if they sell for $1, I'm way ahead in the value they have already provided me.

All reserved and deposited, and will continue to do so until it no longer works.

If you mean Marriott implements a mandatory points system as opposed to your right to reserve, use, trade or rent your weeks as you do now, this can't happen. It is covered extensively in the other points thread.

Until I see something in writing, I don't intend to change anything I'm doing or hold off making decisions based on the possibility Marriott might offer something different next year.

At this point, the Marriott resorts I have I purchased to use. It hasn't always worked out that way but, I've done personal use more than exchange. The exchanges I have done have been with the lock-off sections except for one upcoming exchange that was a request first.

While a points based reservation system intrigues me, having to pay to join it does not. So long as we want to use our units for personal usage paying to belong to a points based system doesn't make a lot of sense. Personally, I think Marriott would be miles ahead if they just allowed an open enrollment without a fee for present owners. If they wanted to make it a more inclusive feeling, they could offer open enrollment without a fee to those that purchased from the developer.

For us it will depend on the benefits and fee's to join any points based system. But, since we intend to use our master suites and only exchange the LO portions, I won't wait to see what happens......if it happens.
