Points Needed versus II Exchanges

I am not enrolled in Destination Points and this is the first time due to travel and family problems we have not used full weeks during some of our vacations. I was wondering if I did use points if I would have left over time or if it was cheaper to just use the II exchanges.

I own Marriott Summit Watch 2 Bedroom Silver Season and Kauai Beach Club Oceanfront 1 Bedroom EOY.

This year my vacations were:
7 nights studio Mountainside first week in February
4 nights Kauai 1 Bedroom Oceanfront- Monday- Thursday(last week)- Didn't use first 3 days of my week.
5 nights Maui Ocean Club 1 Bedroom Ocean View -Friday-Weds(just left)- Didn't use last 2 days.

I would imagine it would have cost me much more in points to do these trips than what my 2 weeks are worth? I was wondering how many points would have been needed versus points I would get for my weeks.

Also as an aside I overheard a couple Maui owners who had used points instead of their deeded weeks to stay here and they were all complaining about their room locations being worse using points. Once couple that owns the equivalent of 5 weeks for an oceanfront 2 bedroom got the 2 bedroom side oceanfront unit facing the pool and when they complained for the next week were put in a lower oceanfront unit where she said the trees blocked her view.

So, I was wondering are point reservation weeks down the hierarchy from week owners. I do know in Kauai I was given a great Oceanfront unit as a weeks owner.

You should be able to look everything up on the chart and figure out how many points your usage would have cost via the DC.
