Points carry over

Do points carry over to the next use year. From what I have read, it looks like they are only good for one use year. Just wanted to be sure that I understand this prior to buying points.

Points do not automatically carry over from one year to the next but you do have some options for a force carry. One is to put them in the points credit pool internally with Wyndham. This costs $39 and must be done BEFORE the start of the points' use year. Points are valid for 3 years from the date you place them in the credit pool. If you did not pool your points in advance and find you have extra points as you approach the end of your use year, you have the option to deposit them with RCI. Points deposited to RCI are valid for 2 years and wil require an exchange fee in order to "redeem" them. Minimum points required for an RCI deposit is 27k.

You can use up a small number of leftover points to make a reservation in the current year by adding some "borrowed" points from the following year.
