Is there any amount you have to rent (does MVCI only do round numbers or can you rent any amount?)

What are some sites that are good and trusted by folks for rental.

Need to add one day worth of points.

So what is the risk of having someone make the reservation for me

So the cheapest ones are from folks who have banked points and have to make a reservation for you.

Are there any issues with this?
Anyone have experience?

For the most part people are honest and there are no issues with it. Sometimes it can be inconvenient as it means you can't book 1 reservation for your whole stay.

Final question, how long do transfers take?

The actual transaction takes minutes assuming the person is waiting for you to transfer the money to them (usually via Paypal) and as soon as they see the money is in their account, they are ready to pick up the phone and call MVC to transfer the points into your account.

Good communication is key to assure that both sides know the expectations of the other regarding speed of the transaction.

The risks are pretty much the same as renting a week direct from an owner. The reservation will be in that owner's name and you will just be listed as a guest on the reservation. You will not "own" the reservation and you have to trust/hope that the person you are dealing with is honest.

Banked points cannot be transferred? If I needed a handful of points how would that work? I would want to make the reservation myself versus having two separate reservations and risking a room switch during a stay.

Correct, banked or borrowed points cannot be transferred to another member.

For you, since you own Trust points, I would recommend renting from somebody who has clean (not banked or borrowed) Trust points for rent. You can rent in multiples of 25 points. The reason I say rent Trust points is that the way the system works, is that you need the same type (Trust or Legacy) of points for each room night, so it will just make the ressie easier to book if you have all Trust points.

You can book a ressie with a mix of both, but oftentimes, the mix will not work out perfectly, as again, each night needs to be booked with one type or the other type (not a mix) so you can end up with issues of not having enough of one type...and a little too many of the other.

If you do end up renting Legacy points (as they are usually way more plentiful), then just make sure you rent in increments of single night rental needs during the time you plan to book your ressie.

Thank you. I would only buy ('rent') somebody's clean trust points if I needed to.

Cost depends on how much someone is willing to rent them for. It's going to be standard economics. Historically, they will run anywhere from 0.40 to 1.00 per point. Some people charge more for smaller transactions while others may not care.

Here is a link to current offerings however you will have to create a login to view them.
