Point at poipu reservation strategy?

Is ther any disadvantage to reserving fri-fri? we have always gone Sat-Sat and have got OF corner units building 6 - 4 (excecpt LY got a great unit in #8)
We own an original float/float.
Our usual unit request might be complerley different. Or is the Club point system of daily splits changing everything about unit assignments.
We hace OF for Thankgiving '23 and looking to book same for '24. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

2 sampler visits this summer with mandatory presentations in the California. I will post the latest HG Max info I get.

Years ago I was told that to get OF corner units you had to book Sat-Sat. I'm not sure if it's still true, but it has been working for us. At this point, I don't want to experiment.

We usually do Saturday to Saturday but have been able to get corner units on Friday to Friday in fhe past and have 4404 later this year on a F-F.

Last I saw for statistics the P@P was about 75% deeds converted to points so that may soon limit the amount of us with deeded float float to get the nice rooms.
Purchased in 96 with Embasy brand.
I imagine that will be a pressure point at any presentations

There may be fewer rooms to choose from but there will also be fewer people choosing. I'm not sure how it will work out but we didn't have trouble booking 2 ocean front weeks next year.

There are corner units available for almost any check-in day. We picked up corner units for sure with Fri, Sat, and Mon.

How many points do you need to reserve a OF corner unit. I'm looking at resale for sale units and many don't have a point value attached to them.

How many points do you need to reserve a OF corner unit. I'm looking at resale for sale units and many don't have a point value attached to them.
You can't tell when you book an OF unit if it will be a corner unit. All you can do is request it. If you buy a deeded week through resale, the point value is irrelevant. If you're buying points in the Hawaiian Trust collection, most OF weeks are 15,500, but are higher during peak periods. It might be hard to get a corner unit if you're using points for a number of days that's not a multiple of 7.

I'm assuming that but just read a review on Tripadvisor that someone booked their oceanfront week and received an "oceanfront" unit that had a view of a burm. Also, does anyone have information on how difficult it is to secure an oceanfront unit say 3-6 months in advance? Thanks so much

If they booked through Tripadvisor, there wouldn't be any guarantee about the view category they'd get. You are correct that when you buy a deeded week, you can only use it at P@P. However, you could exchange it through RCI, Interval International, or Destination Xchange, Diamond's exchange program. There is always some additional cost for exchanges, usually less than a couple of hundred.

Most deeded weeks are float/float, book any week with any view category subject to availability. When you book it, you will know your date and view category, and you should always get what you booked. Of course, some ocean front views are better than others, Depending on the time of year you plan to stay there, booking oceanfront 3-6 months ahead may not be likely. We've stayed in several view categories, and they've all been nice. Here's some pictures that include views from several different units. Thank you so much for the information, photos and map! With Hilton acquiring P@P do you think there will be any major changes to the booking process or availability? We found an oceanfront unit we're hoping to purchase resale so we'd have that designated view category.

Anything could happen, but for now all the deeded units bookings come from their own "bucket". Whatever Hilton changes, it should only apply to the deeds that are owned by the Hawaiian Collection trust.

It wasn't too long after that they created the view categories, with deeds assigned to view categories. I don't have exact numbers in front of me, but I think that float-float deeds are less than 25% of the total number of deeds sold.

I'm not sure either. When we bought from the developer in 2004, it was an assigned oceanfront category. When we were looking to buy two more through resale, most the ones I found were float/float. If I look now (small sample set), it's about 50/50. I also see many even year only or odd year only.
