Pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but thought I would throw it out there. We have a platinum week purchased direct from Marriott and was wondering if it can be downgraded to EOY? I know the salesman said we could upgrade at any time (of course!), but is it possible to change to EOY? Thanks again!

You wouldn't be able to downgrade through Marriott. Even when you upgrade there are certain restrictions. Sometimes you have to bring a certain amount of additional $ in to the deal. These are typically involved with equity upgrade. They will give you for your unit what you paid but you have to buy a new week that is an additional $15k beyond what you are trading in. So upgrading isn't always a good option either.

I don't think they give you full value of what you trade in for an equity upgrade. We were staying at Surfwatch and someone there was doing an equity upgrade and they said they would get barely 60% of the value of what they paid for their unit (they had bought direct from Marriott). I don't know if this is true for all TS's- they were trying to upgrade from a Horizons in Orlando.

When I inquired two weeks ago about the new Orlando property, Marriott offered me MORE than 60% of what I paid for my Legends Edge. I believe it must have been 60% of CURRENT Legends Edge price.

The amount Marriott offered me varied dependent on the type of unit I were to buy at the new property.

Trading Up with Marriott

We own a 1 BR at TimberLodge.
Did an owner's 'briefing' in May and asked about 'trading in'
our 1 BR for a 2 BR.

Our sales rep presented our request to the 'higher powers'
and returned quickly with a "we don't do that" response.
Instead, a rude marketing guy tried to get us to purchase
some type of price guarantee package for the 2 bedroom.
We said... "we don't do that" and he got even ruder.
