Currently at the Renaissance Sea World. Was told by an employee that Renaissance is cutting out the concierge floors at their hotels. Explanation for it was that Marriott does not own the hotels and is simply the management company. I was told it was a system-wide policy. e owners have eliminated the lounge. In addition to giving the normal 500 MRP gift they gave an additional 500 MRPs for not having the concierge floor. The floor normally has drinks and food for platinum members and also a breakfast bar. For platinum elite members I see this policy as a real loss. It's one of the reasons that I have preferred to stay at a Marriott Renaissance rather than some of their other products.

Anyone heard anything about this development? The seventy-five night stay for a platinum elite status seems rather hollow.

That part is true and always the way. Marriott is best at marketing, program development. Not so great at real estate.

Not a new development and not a big deal.

Resorts do not have a requirement for lounge or breakfast and most do not have them.

As for non-resort locations, either they have to have a lounge or if not (or it is closed) they have to give you free breakfast in the restaurant so no loss.

You are staying at a resort property, they by the T&C don't have to provide concierge floor access or free breakfast to platinum MR members.

Did you inquire about concierge floor access and this was the answer you received?

It's correct that this is a resort hotel. There's even a vacation club advisor in the lobby try to get people to take a tour. Probably at Lakeshore Reserve. However, this is not a timeshare. It's a hotel. I was told they had a concierge floor but it was taken out. I was given an additional 500 MRPs because of it for a total of 1,000. Then they gave me the explanation that they are being taken out of the Renaissance Hotels. Don't know if it's true or not but they were very apologetic here.
