We are thinking about a trip to Pittsburgh and would like suggestions on where to stay
Are there any (RCI) timeshares nearby or should we be looking for a Hotel (free parking)
Driving directions from (BWI Airport) Baltimore, Maryland (est 250 miles 4-5 hour drive)

Here are a few places in and around Pittsburgh that we would like to visit

Kennywood Amusement Park located in West Mifflin southeast of Pittsburgh

Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History,
Carnegie Science Center, and The Andy Warhol Museum.
(Military/Senior Discounts - Admission fee/timed tickets)

The Historic Clayton Museum (if open for tours)
The home of the Henry Clay Frick family from 1882–1905, this meticulously restored 23-room mansion features an impressive array of fine and decorative art objects purchased by the Fricks. Docent-led tours of the home provide an inside view of daily life at the turn of the 20th century and a better understanding of Pittsburgh during the Gilded Age.

The Car and Carriage Museum

The Frick Art Museum (Admission to the museums and gardens is free)
The Frick is approximately 20 minutes east of downtown Pittsburgh at the corner of Penn and South Homewood avenues in Point Breeze. The entrance is located on Reynolds Street where parking is available in our free lot.
Designed by Pittsburgh architects Pratt, Schafer & Slowik, the Italian Renaissance-style Frick Art Museum was built by founder Helen Clay Frick to house her collection of fine and decorative arts, as well as paintings, sculpture and porcelains that she had inherited from her father. Strengths of the collection include French 18th-century painting and decorative arts, early Italian Renaissance painting, Renaissance and Baroque bronzes, and extraordinary Chinese porcelains.

The Homewood Cemetery 1599 S. Dallas Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15217 (412) 421-1822 located near the center of Allegheny County, in the historic East End (Squirrel Hill) area of Pittsburgh and next to the cultural and academic center of Oakland.

There are no timeshares in Pittsburgh. The closest would be Lakeview Resort in Morgantown, which is at least 90 minutes away. But looking at your wish list, traveling from there would put you on the wrong side of the city. You would encounter traffic so you'd have to allow 2 hours. Lots of nice hotels in Pittsburgh - depends on your budget. I'd recommend staying on the east side of town because most of your target sites would be easier to reach without having to go through our notoriously slow tunnels. From Baltimore the easiest way would be to get to Breezewood PA and pick up the PA Turnpike, exit at the Monroeville exit, which would put you on the east side of town with many hotels in the area.

RCI can put you in a hotel for a very inflated price. Probably better off just looking for hotel deals.

As mentioned above, no timeshares in or around the Pittsburgh area but lots of hotels. There are several areas that you might want to consider in and around the city that have shopping/restaurants within walking distance: North Shore, Station Square, Southside Works, The Waterfront. Most of your "visit" locations are in/near downtown or on the eastern side like Oakland/Squirrel Hill. Monroeville is farther east and rates may be cheaper but you will have to contend with traffic during the week.

Marty, if you have any interest in baseball, go see the Pirates play. Great field and the experience is wonderful. I know you are from MD, so think about Camden Yards. Similar experience, but different setting.

Wife and I spent a long weekend just outside of Pittsburgh a couple of years ago. We stayed near The Meadows which is a horse race track and casino. Nearby is the Pennsylvania Trolley Car Museum. We had a really nice time there. You can take a ride on a refurbished trolley. They also took us to their workshop where they do the refurbishment. Got to see many different styles and era's of trolley cars.
