Pinehurst NC anyone?

Some friends of mine are thinking of taking a golf trip to the Pinehurst area next fall and I thought maybe I would try a t/s exchange into the area. From the II directry the pickings are rather slim, Fox Fire is rated at 6.13 here on TUG and I see no other resort listed in the ratings and review sections. I did note a resort called Whispering Pines which has limited trading activity. Does anyone know anything about Whispering Pines and/or has anyone been to Fox Fire recently? The most recent reviews for this resort are 15-18 months old now and I'd like to read something a bit more current if possible.

Maggie, Foxfire is an older resort and has had some assesments but it is not a place I would recommend. Whispering Pines is out in the boonies. Foxfire & WP has nothing to do other than golf. They are not close to anything, shopping , movies, etc. Foxfire is no too far from 7 Lakes. There are lots of golfing packages to that area which are not too expensive which may be the way to go. I would choose WP over Foxfire. I am originally from that area, I am not a golfer but I do know the area like the back of my hand. I will be glad to help with recommendations of restaurants or any thing other than golf.

Thanks for the input.

As I said the purpose of our trip is to play golf, we generally play about 27 holes per day on average come back to our unit for dinner, cocktails and cards so being too far away from anything else isn't a problem. What I am concerned about is the condition of the units, the amenities at the resort itself (outdoor grilling, a pool and a jacuzzi would be nice) and perhaps the layout of the units.

If we get to the point that we do decide to go there I will take you up on the offer for restaurant advice as we don't eat in every night.

I helped my friend sell her unit at Foxfire. It does have a pool. I called the resort directly and they said that most of the complaints were on the older appliances. I would call there directly (I did that when I was trying to sell the unit) I told him I had not had good reports on the resort and that's when they told me about the older appliances (avocado green) but they were getting ready to update. They were very upfront with me so I'd try calling them. If they are not helpful please let me know and I'll call them for you. shaggy
