It's in Palm Springs, but the OP obviously also made a trip to the Newport Beach area because there's a picture of the Balboa Island ferry. Also, there's pics that look like the ocean to me and, even though I've never been to Palm Springs, I know there's no ocean there. ;)

However, if those are pics of the the golf course in Palm Springs, I have to show Hubby. That will make him want to go there - I can't believe how green they look in the middle of the desert, better than the ones in humidity-soaked NJ.

DSV II is in Palm Desert.

Yes the grass is green in the Desert. They have sprinkers going Day and night to keep everything alive and green. On my last day we took a trip to the coast since my flight did not leave until after midnight.

I love the pictures! The sand castle looked very impressive;) I am very anxious to get to the those resorts. We spent two weeks at Desert Canyon Villas in Phoenix in the middle of summer and loved it!! It looks very similar.

How long did it take you to get to the coast from there?

It took about 1 hour and 45 mins. The freeways are incredible. I had my gps and that made it so much easier. There were some strechs that we were doing 80mph and we did not even realize we were going that fast. Some streches have 6 lanes across.
