I'm not sure if you Marriotters will know this, but does anyone have an idea as to how difficult an exchange Phuket Beach Club is for a nonMarriott owner? I can use a Sheraton Broadway Plantation 1BR unit or Hyatt points. Considering looking for midNov 2013 through Feb or March 2014 (or whatever then end of the "good" season is). Right now am searching for that same timeframe for Westin Kaanapali or St John, but I have some BA to burn an Thailand would definately burn some miles.

Thanks,
H

Right now, with Shell points, I can see end of April, May and September. I know I saw some Dec earlier. We exchanged in 2008 using a Marriott one bedroom for late Feb-March, but it does show up with Shell quite frequently. Have not specifically watched the high Dec-March season with Shell, but think you should have a good chance. We definitely plan to go back. It was one of our favorite Marriotts.

I had no problem of getting summer/fall week with WorldMark by using ongoing search.
If you need Feb/March weeks which is a platinum season and higher demand weeks, put an ongoing search well in advance and put many weeks to incease chance of matching. I saw spring weeks with Marriott deposit and some of them must be slipped through preference.

Thanks, everybody.

It turns out it is fabulously expensive to get to Thailand on BA. Still would like to go, but not because we've got to use these miles. Really have heard great things about Phuket Beach Club.

If you are using BA points/miles then look at Cathay Pacific as an option to BA. BA will take you via London and that is a long way. LA to Hong Kong and then Dragon Air or Thai Air to Phuket.

Yes, the plan had been business class on Cathay Pacific from LA, however using BA miles for this route incurs significant fuel surcharge fees making the flights prohibitive.

If we want Thailand, our better better is to continue to accumulate AA miles, but this will take awhile, we just spent 125,000 of them in this past year.
