Congratulations to the Phillies!

It looked like they had to win by freezing out Tampa Bay! :D

It's hard for me to relate to playing baseball in freezing temps, considering we have had a month with more 90 degree weather than in August, here in Los Angeles....

A Dodger - Tampa Bay series would have provided much nicer weather for the players and the fans! :D :p ;)

What Are They Doing Playing Baseball In Late October ?

Shux, before all the wild cards & divisional playoffs & all that nonsense, they managed to get the World Series completed by a reasonable date in September.

Baseball is for springtime & summer.

Not even the Big Leagues have any business playing night games this late in the year.

What are they thinking ?

( Congrats to the Phillies anyway. )

Union dudes had put a small statue of Billy Penn on the top ledge of the Comcast Center - to restore Billy above ALL other Philly buildings - this year.

As for the parade tomorrow - show be a blast. Did the 76 & 77 Stanley Cup parades and the 80 World Series parade in Center City (had over a million people attend). Last parade was 83 - missed that one as I was in graduate school.

If you had always wanted to go to major street party, it starts at noon thru the financial district, right turn at City Hall and straight down Broad Street to the sports complex (several miles). Broad St subway runs all the way down.
Figure well over a million people, might be close to 1.5 million along the route. Hopefully no one running for election will show up with the secret service:ignore: .

Hey Rick,

"A Dodger - Tampa Bay series would have provided much nicer weather for the players and the fans!" I totally agree. However, it would have left out the best team in baseball. The Philadelphia Phillies!!!!!

I do have to admit that playing this late in the year and with all the various playoffs, it is ridiculous. Pro sports are simply all about the money and college sports aren't far behind. :annoyed:

Here's hoping we'll see Penn State in the college football championships soon.

BigTom

P.S. It is time to get ready for some real sporting action. :whoopie:

ACC Basketball - Go Blue Devils!!!!! :cheer:

Rumor has it been a "ticker tape" style parade in the center city section of the "parade". People came to work today lugging black trash bags of paper which they have been shredding.
