Hi there, we're traveling to Petco Park for an evening baseball game and since it will be an approx. 2 hour drive to get there we were wondering if there was anywhere nearby it to take our 4 and 5 year old sons to burn some energy before we have them sit through the baseball game. Any ideas such as a nearby good playground/park would be greatly appreciated. Also, where is a good place to eat nearby that has good food and is kid-friendly? Thanks San Diego Tuggers for responding if you can help.

There is a grassy area behind the outfield specifically for families and small kids. You can see the game from there (sort of). This area is inside Petco Park so you have to enter Petco before you can use it. Once you are inside Petco, I think you can walk over to that section and let the kids run around for awhile. Once the game starts, you can walk back to your seats.

As mentioned the Park at the Park is the area to go. They have a sandbox that is actually up against the outfield fence. It is Plexiglass so the kids can play and watch the game from field level. Tickets in the park are "standing room" you go wherever you want to watch the game. Tickets are around $7.00 each. They vary might to night and opponent.
They also have a little baseball field set up where the kids can play tee ball or whiffle ball.

padres Suck but great stadium.

Thanks for the tips :) We're going because husband is a Philly sports fan and this is the only time they'll be in California this year.
