I like James Taylor Mexico especially when we go to Mexico. I still feel like that live wire.

Gosh, I thought it was gonna be, "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" by us as kids in a yellow bus heading to YMCA or Scout camp! Oh, well, to each their own.

The Eagles "Take It Easy" is how I start nearly every road trip.

You mean Jackson Browne's "Take it Easy?" He did the heavy songwriting lifting, after all. ;-)

I'm talking about the Eagles recording. Jackson Browne may have written it with Glenn Frey, but the Eagles recording is the one I know. Jackson Browne occupies a completely different folder in my musical head.

It's more fair to say that Glen Frey lent a hand in the songwriting. Sure, Eagles version blew up and Browne's didn't. But whose song is it? Jackson's, clearly. And check your records/CDs/MP3s. There is no "the" in Eagles.

I like the Eagles version better too. I like Jackson Brown. Back in the days when I couldn't fill the tanks of all the trucks Running on Empty was my JB song.

Took a trip from CO to AZ, and had to jump to that song when we pulled off the interstate for a lunch stop in Winslow, AZ. And yes, there is a flat-bed Ford at the corner. :)

I wonder how many people have done exactly that? I personally know several, including me.

While driving from Nevada to Virginia, I rolled into Winslow at dawn in November of 1974. I pulled over and got out of the car, stood on a corner for about ten seconds, got back in, and drove back to the freeway. I did not see a girl or a flatbed Ford. :D

Jackson may have written most of the words but THE Eagles made the music that we all, well most of us at least, love.

I bet most people on this forum can’t tell you who wrote “New York, New York”, but they can damn well tell you who sang it.

Check your record covers. I assure you, it's just "Eagles."

Browne's version is on his second LP, "For Everyman." Definitely worth a listen, especially for anyone sick of listening to the same 100 songs over and over on classic rock radio.

As for (Theme From) New York, New York, the "theme from" should be a dead giveaway to anyone who isn't a Scorcese fan.

Trust me. I’ve heard Browne’s version. THE Eagles version is better. ;)

When I had the convertible - there was nothing I loved more than putting the top down on an empty highway where I could speed and listening to "Radar Love" by Golden Earing. A close second is "Life is a Highway" by Tom Cochran.
