We loved our stay at PB Sunset. Am seriously considering a resale purchase, as we are limited for exchanging in. I can see us going every yer or two for 1-2weeks, perhaps with others. Any advice:
What size unit?
Can one upgrade, change unit size?
Can one get a second unit more easily if an owner?
How easy to get a good week, like spring break?
Any perks for owners?
How easy to pay MF etc withe the administrators?
Any suggestions on location/type of unit which is preferable (I noticed there were upgraded appliances etc on the models than the penthouse we stayed in).
Also loved the new fractionals at Quivara-also looking into those, but much more expensive way to go-however would love any info on that too.

Thanks, still thinking about all that warm sun!

We have owned at the PB Rose for about 13 years, but here is some general info:

What size unit? If you think you'll be bringing others with you, go for a two bedroom that sleeps 8.
Can one upgrade, change unit size?not usually
Can one get a second unit more easily if an owner? sometimes, if available
How easy to get a good week, like spring break? probably not too hard at Sunset Beach since it's so large
Any perks for owners?reduced all-inclusive price & free use of spa/rec center facilities
How easy to pay MF etc withe the administrators?very easy, do it online with credit card
Any suggestions on location/type of unit which is preferable (I noticed there were upgraded appliances etc on the models than the penthouse we stayed in).???

Thanks, Karen. As for the ???, we stayed in a 3 BR penthouse. Was nice, however, some cracked formica like material in kitchen, older appliances etc. Didn't use the kitchen as we did AI. However, on our tour, we saw models with nice upgrades like granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, etc. I was wondering if there were different types of units--or only the models were different.

I don't know the answer to that. Hopefully, a Sunset Beach owner will respond. In our PB Rose unit that is over 13 yrs. old, they have done a few upgrades over the years. The kitchen counters are a Corian-type material and the bathroom has marble counters. They haven't done any upgrading to those. They have replaced the cooktop, refrigerator, bedding, pots & pans, blender, and reupholstered the chairs. The sleep sofa has been replaced with a better pull-out one, and the patio furniture has been replaced.

So they do periodically refurbish things.

We just returned from PBSB and also considered purchasing a larger unit. After a lot of honest thought, we decided to stick with our eoy studio - we already own too many weeks, and the eoy fits nicely into our vacation plans. But I did locate two nicely priced units (one 2 bedroom and one executive) on the Sumday vacations website. If you are serious, I would check these out. The pricing is very competitive to ebay.

btw, our studio in bldg 26 had granite in the bathroom & kitchen, and white appliances. I thought I would cook but in the end we just ate out.:) It was the most relaxing vacation that I have ever had.
