They have been Blue Green members for over a decade, they went to a presentation and were lied to. They were told that they had to and must upgrade their anniversary date. They asked if there was a cost, they said no. Fast forward and they get a bill for $2300. This was a pro-rated amount for points in connection with moving that anniversary date. But what points? They got no additional points, and had already used their existing points before they made this change (and they already paid their maintenance fees, now being charged another $2300 just to move the date). They were basically paying for nothing.

So they tried calling, got the runaround. Left callback messages, which were never returned. Called again, spoke to multiple people, being told it would be escalated, nobody ever called back. After hours of phone calls they are about ready to just quit completely. What is their recourse? They would never have agreed to paying this if they were told the truth. But the guys pitching this to them basically just lied in order to get them to agree to it.

My guess is they have zero recourse. It is criminal (in the generic sense) the lengths these companies go to separate their Owners from their money and how they get away with it...

sadly this is likely to come down to what is spelled out in the contract/sales agreement they signed.

its extremely common for salesfolk to make misleading statements or outright lies to get someone to sign, then just claim the owners "misheard" or "misunderstood" them....and in a court of law the only thing that matters is whats written on the contract.

how long ago did they sign?
