...the HGVC Point system is the most confusing timeshare issue I have ever encountered. I have 1500 RESCUED POINTS and 5,000 2015 POINTS. I want to deposit all 6500 Points into RCI. I will not be making any Club Reservations or RCI Reservations for 2016 travel as all our vacations have been planned. The system wants me to RESCUE the 5000 points for a fee and the system will let me deposit the RESCUED Points into RCI for ANOTHER fee. I really don't want to pay 2 separate fees....any advice would be greatly appreciated ;) Thanks.

You will have to pay two fees, you can deposit your 2015 clubpoints into RCI and they are good two years from the deposit date. You will be able to use the 5000 points through 2017.

I have bad news on the rescued points, they are only good for one year in RCI so you will have to use them in 2016. These may not be worth depositing in RCI if you wont use them. You cant lump them together for a single fee because you already rescued 1500 from 2014. "Deposited" is not the same as "Rescued" two separate buckts of points.

Its all on page 7 of the club reference guide:

RCI Deposit. Members may deposit current- year ClubPoints or previously deposited ClubPoints into the RCI Exchange Program for future weekly and nightly RCI exchange reservations. RCI deposits are valid from the date of deposit through an additional two calendar years.

On or before December 31 of the current year, Members may deposit any remaining “rescued” ClubPoints into RCI for future weekly and nightly exchange reservations. Rescued Points deposited into RCI are valid from the date of deposit through an additional calendar year.

Thanks Dave for that explanation. If I pay to "rescue" the 2015 (5000) Points, do I have to pay again to deposit them in RCI? I will most likely let the 1500 Points expire :( The website only gives me the option of depositing the 1500 Rescued Points into RCI, not the 5000 Points.

If you just want to put the 5000 2015 points in RCI, I think you can just deposit them to RCI now -- no need to rescue them first. The only reason you would rescue them first is if you didn't want to deposit them into RCI until next year (keeping your options open until next year).

The only reason to rescue them is if you would use them in HGVC next year. Since you wont use them until 2017 just go ahead and deposit them in RCI to get 2 years use before expiration and avoid two fees.

You may want to call and see if they can do it without too many fees, but my experience is that with HGVC we pay a fee for anything we do.

Yeah, I agree that it's best to call and see what they can do.

Also, try to get out of the depositing/rescuing habit.
With HGVC, it's best to always be in a borrowing state to avoid the various fees. ;)
