We are booked at Shadow Ridge for mid October. It was the only Marriott with 2 bedroom available in II when we booked. However, I am wondering if I should be watching for an e-plus trade into DSV I or DSV II?

It's our first visit to the area. We are planning to spend the AM hours in the mountains and PM hours by the pools.

I have watched @dioxide45 Youtube videos - they are super informative - but would love to also hear other members recommendations.

many thanks to the TUGG crew!

Hands down Shadow Ridge with kids that age.

I agree that Shadow Ridge is best for your situation. In addition, DSV1 and II are having work done on the streets (new blacktop) and the major pool as I recall. I am not sure when they are supposed to be done, but that wouldn't be a good environment if it's still in progress during your visit.

I'm at Shadowridge right now and there are ten million screaming kids here. Shadow is better for kids. I prefer DSV 1 but my "kid" is 26 and lives in Florida.

Yikes!!! We're due there in two weeks. I only picked this resort for the elevators. Since we are seniors coming from the South, I hope we don't have to deal with screaming children during our week. I asked for buildings 1100 or 1200 as per another Tugger in a renovated unit. Please advise if you have any additional recommendations. I haven't been in the area since 2018.

I suspect the holiday weekend made things busier. We are at Westin Desert Willow and it was pretty busy yesterday. Quieter today and I suspect will be mostly dead tomorrow.

It will be quiet. Kids are in school and it’s really hot right now. A balmy 114 on Thursday I think.

Weekends at all PD resorts are busiest on weekends, as many from the inland empire and LA venture out. Weekdays are night and day different. Summer has more of the crowds described above with kids out of school or locals trying to beat the heat. Most schools are back in and this thins the hordes a lot. I wouldn't worry too much.

We are there until Saturday. If anyone would like to enjoy a cold beverage, I’m in.

La Quinta brewing in Palm Desert is great.

Haven't been to the brewery, but really like the Even Par IPA.

Is it fun for a Christmas trip? I see many Christmas weeks in getaways.

I suspect it might be busy since it is when kids are out of school. I also notice that a 2BR Christmas getaway is over $2000.

Thanksgiving and Christmas break weeks in the desert are big for those in LA escaping the holidays for various reasons. As for conditions you could have 60-70 degree days and 40-50s nights, or 50 degree days and 40 degree nights. Rain is about a 30% chance on a given week.

Marriott Desert Springs is close to JW. Do they share amenitie? I also prefer this proximity to have better dining choices.

DSVI guests get day passes to the Spa Desert Springs over at the JW Marriott on weekdays. This also includes the adult only pool at the spa. DSVI also has access to the pool facilities at the JW.

DSVII guests do not get day passes to the spa. Access to the pools for DSVII guests is in question. I don't believe it is an official benefit, but during shoulder and off season no one is checking. I can't speak for peak season.

Anyone can eat in the restaurants at the JW Marriott.
