Alabama Department of Public Health Press Release: New ‘safer at home’ health order eases some COVID-19 restrictions in Alabama while protecting our communities

Updates provided by Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism:

The updated guidelines include the following:

  • All public and private beaches along Alabama’s Gulf Coast, including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and the Fort Morgan peninsula will open at 5:00 p.m. on April 30.
  • Anyone using the beach must maintain 6-foot distancing from other people, except those in your own household group. Groups are limited to no more than 10 people. Normal use of the beach – chairs, umbrellas, etc. – is allowed.
  • Pools at hotels and condominiums will be open. However there still should be no gatherings of more than 10 people and they must always maintain 6-foot social distancing at all times. Hotel and condominium properties may implement their own policies to best manage pool access.
  • All public boat launches and waterways in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach at remain open, as are all recreational trails, public fishing piers, golf courses, and boating. People are strongly encouraged to practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet from each other and in groups of less than 10 people.
  • Charter fishing is open, but boats must avoid gatherings of 10 or more clients and must keep those clients 6-feet apart. Charter operators must also regularly disinfect frequently used items and surfaces.
  • The Alabama Department of Public Health strongly recommends residents and visitors wear face coverings in public.
  • All individuals are strongly encouraged to stay at home and follow good sanitation practices.
All restaurants, bars, brewery and similar establishments (such as ice cream shops and coffee shops) are closed to dine-in customers through May 15. Many area restaurants are offering take-out, curbside pick-up or delivery, and we encourage the public to support these businesses.
