painting advice

We had our home built about 12 years ago. Obviously the contractor primed and painted all windows and wood work. Over the years, I've repainted at least twice.
I now choose to paint our window frames again as there are a few nicks (grand-kids) and some of the paint seems to be yellowing.
Wife insists that I put another coat of primer on the windows again.
I'm of the opinion that the original coat of primer + paint as well as two other coats (over the years) negates the use of an additional primer.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

That's a very amusing post. When my wife insists on something, there is little hope, even when I'm pretty certain that I am right.

You had better get advice from the painting Gods.

(My wife knows that she is seldom wrong. It would probably take me less time to reprime the darn windows than to argue with her.)

You only need to prime again if there are stains that will bleed through. Just buy a good semi-gloss paint and you'll be good to go. We usually repaint our trim every 6-8 yrs. or so.

Thats exactly as I suspected. There is nothing bleeding through. Its just a matter of brightening things up. I feel that another primer is a waste of time and paint.
