Why would Pahio at Bali Hai Villas (Wyndham) be listed at such a low cost? Is there an issue with buying a Wyndham timeshare? You would think that almost anywhere in Hawaii would get you a good trade at a minimum.
Thanks

The maintenance fees are too high to make it a good trader. I have a week in Colorado with maintenance fees of under $500 that trades as well as my old Bali Hai weeks did. There used to be a priority for Bali Hai into Shearwater, but if you want Shearwater every year, might as well buy one of those. I don't know if the priority exists at all anymore, with Wyndham's changes to everything. :(

thanks, but what about upfront cost

I can see the point, but a one bedroom for $300-1000 with an annual fee of 700-800 seems pretty reasonable. I'm not getting the catch.

My one bedroom/ two bath has much higher fees than $800. I think they were about $950 last year. I would need to look it up.

Here is my advice for buying a first timeshare.

In this economy, I would absolutely buy a drive-to location that I wanted to visit at least every other year. I wouldn't buy anything in Hawaii for exchanging - the MF's are too high, and airfare is too high from Pittsburg.

pghjoe: Things to consider when buying in Hawaii (we own 3 wks there for over 15 yrs): (1) Airfare -- there could be national disasters or strikes that can make the $$$ go up or you not travel; (2) Maintenance/replacements on simple items like refrigerators are much higher due to the humidity there; (3) Hurricanes -- and I bet some Tuggers can add to the above list.

great advice

Thanks...that is great advice.

Is there a certain company you would recommend to try to buy?

How much of a maintenance fee is too high?

How can you find out if a certain property rents well?

and finally, any good sites for finding properties?

Thanks again.
