Owners Update (aka. Sales Presentation) at Ocean Oak

I was initially offered $125 Hilton Island rewards or 80K Hilton honors points to attend by the concierge (early in my stay) I turned that deal down. Today, I was offered $250 Hilton Island rewards or 125K Hilton honors points to attend. I took the 125K Hilton honors points to attend at 1:15 pm today. (Because that time actually worked for us but was a little cheaper than I would have liked). Anyways, we arrived at the sales office around 1:20 pm. We met the salesperson around 1:30 pm. He looked at our sheet and asked what he could do for us. I said “nothing” (as in the word nothing). I told him that I didn’t want Max nor Trust points. He looking at our sheet said that I only can see the last 6 deeds that you own which are all resale. So, if you don’t have any question, let me check on something. Next thing was the checkout person coming by to sign us out. We were done at 1:45 pm. This was one of the best owner updates that we have had.

My suggestion to those thinking about an owners update is to not that the first offer. Wait for a better offer, but don’t buy retail.
 
Similar for us at OO. They talked to me at the concierge desk last week, offered $100 gift card or 40k HH, I said no. They then said $125 gift card or 60k HH points. I said no. Today they called and said there is a special so how about $225 gift card or 125k HH points? I would do that but unfortunately my wife is gone since she was only here for last weekend. I kicked around the idea of pulling in a random woman off the street to go with me....:)
 
I can’t wait for the next owners update, I’ll have a resale deed on my account by that time.

I signed up when I was there in May and they originally signed me up for a time, but then called a few days later and said I don’t qualify since I’m all retail haha… good job getting them buddy!

I have said previously that I don’t do these owners update because they are a waste of my time while on vacation. Well, if the incentives are good enough and I have the time, I like to see what the salesperson is going to do. In this case, I was impressed with OO for not trying to play some type of mind game.
 
We recently stayed at the HVC Scottsdale Links resort. They offered us a smaller number of points and then raised it to 80K HH points. My wife told them "no, it needs to be more than that for my husband to agree" (we always use me as the bad guy).

I guess they didn't need to give us the presentation after all, because they didn't call us back with a better offer. I like the 125K+ points for the updates, as it seems more worth while.
 
125k Honors is a good reward. Congrats on your fast exit experience. Wish I could get one of those.
 
I agree. If my wife would have still been here, I could have talked her into that. We are going to Europe for Christmas and staying at Hiltons in Prague, Berlin, and Barcelona. Each night is about 50k so that is 2 nights free plus part of another.
 
Since we have over 2M HHonors points, we'd go for other options. Unfortunately, mrs. brp has nixed any presentation, even though they can certainly be made short. So, no matter what the deal, we just decline.

We are staying in a Hilton in Strassbourg, FR around Thanksgiving time. Taking advantage of 5th night free to get 5 nights for 200K.

Cliff actually told Worldmark I was a floozy he’d picked up off the street so he could get a free breakfast and an Amex gift card. The sales staff at Oceanside had been whispering in the corner about us, seemingly unable to comprehend how we were attending without a $40 deposit (because I had flat out refused the day before) and why we had different last names on our driver licenses. Fercrissakes, look at the contracts and find the same last names!

That is funny... obviously didn't compare your drivers licenses to the account.

My wife would gladly let me take someone else.... She hates those things but, if you can do it pain free as GT75 did, then she could deal with it.
