Just wondering if others have had this experience. I have owned at Island Park for a long time and most of that time they have been managed by Trading Places.

In the past I have deposited with the independednts like SFX or DAE without any Problem.

So I decided to try out Platinum and made my deposit. I got a call after about a week from platinum and they said that Trading Places was denying the deposit that I can only deposit with RCI, II or Trading Places.

Platinum is very good & said they would still take the deposit but that I would just have to get a guest certificate when the week was taken. I am SOOOOOOO frustrated. I know I CAN do the work around but feel like I shouldn't have to.

I did email the resort coordinator at trading places but have not heard back.

Has any one else had this experience? If it is a change in policy, they haven't bothered to tell the owners but I don't think they have this right.:annoyed:

We have to do this with several of our resorts when depositing into the smaller exchange companies. Platinum has a firm for it. It is not Platinum's fault, the resorts themselves are the limiting factors.
It just means that you will take the responsibility for the deposit. Then when they get a guest, we are the ones who add the name to a guest certificate. Platinum is so nice, we have gone ahead and done it..filled out the firm... No problems.

In fact, I think DAE says they can't take Wyndhams any more at all, the resorts won't let them

Owners at resorts managed by Trading Places International are able to deposit with Platinum as long as they have a reservation in place, the week has not been banked with another exchange company and the maintenance fees are paid for the corresponding reservation. We suggest contacting your representative at Platinum to have them resubmit the verification information. Ensure you provide them with the owner name as it appears on your resort account as well as the correct reservation information for the week you are trying to deposit.

Wyndham's policy, if that is correct, would be a monopolistic practice in restraint of trade. They should be sued by a consortium of independent exchange companies both to half this monopolistic practice that is goosestepping on the ownership rights of members. Even better, monopolistic practices seem better than most consumer protection issues to get state Attorney Generals involved. If you have a proactive state Real Estate Commission that may be a good place to start.

It is also another good reason to never own Wyndham. Of course their war against timeshare members at Bluebeards Castle on St. THomas, USVI, back when they were known as Fairfield, or ''unFairfield'' as owners at the Castle called them, is enough for me, that you could not give me a Wyndham week for free!

Since Wyndham is in common ownership with RCI why does it not surprise me that they do such things against their members interests?
