Still on vacation but attended a Timber Lodge meeting for any Marriott owner. I don't know if this is new information or if it is even true, but I'll pass it along. The meeting was conducted by a Marriott TL pr person.
--Marriott has about 50 ts right now but the number will go to 71 by 2010
--Timber Lodge has 265 villas with no more planned--one of the smallest in the MVCI
--85% of TL owners use their units--will be diffucult to trade into TL in the future. May raise trading power to another level.
--JD Power voted Marriott Rewards the best hotel rewards program this year
--Internal exchange program now under development. Bill Marriott advanced the idea only on the condition that they have a minimum of 100 like quality properties for trading purposes. Since they plan to have only 71 by 2010 they will invite other comparable quality ts into the program. They meant Hyatt, DVC, Four Seasons, etc. It will go live in several years and WILL not be a point-based system like some of the other systems. There was no mention of the ownership rights for those who bought resale.
--Marriott is developing an MVCI social network called "liveworld.com" which will be open to all owners by the end of the year. I am assuming that this is a direct response to combat critical comments often found on TUG.
--They also gave this list of the top ten best traders for this year.
1. Maui
2. Kolina
3. Park City
4. Timber Lodge
5. Grand Chateau-LV
6. Newport Ca
7. Aruba
8. Kuai
9. Waholia (sp?), HI
10.St. Kitts
