Owner update meeting at ocean walk interesting sales pitch

No pressure meeting today.
when salesman found out I was a resale, after the sit here and talk for 60 minute BS.
he told me I was so close to 300k points a year he could Sell me a 84 k contract and inculde my resell contracts to get Wyndham benefit To 300k total??
I thought the new level was 400k for silver. But the less talking I do the quicker we get out.
he told me by buying I could have the benefit of booking with a 25% discount.
do you really believe Wyndham would ever give a resale person any benefits lol
oh they still try to sell..... at least the guy was nice about things. He told me I knew a lot about timeshares. :)

Any chance you were able to see if they were offering Wyndham rewards? Since there's no more AMEX, I was thinking of using updates to stay at the Wyndham next to Disney Springs for 15,000 points whenever I want to go to Orlando for the weekend ^_^

their offer was a manatee boat ride near the light house or 50$ to sloppy joes.
i said no thanks then he offered 75$ and I said I go for $100.
He got ok from manage for the 100$.
ill have to check into that reward card that would be great for disney springs

Until someone is bold enough to see if they actually follow through on "including resale contracts", we are going to have assume they are full of bull dung. Mounds, and mounds, and mounds of stinky bull dung. They've said it in the past and it's always been a lie.

There are two new tiers. The lowest one is Advantage, and it's 300,000, but you have to buy points to buy into it, even if you already have 300,000 Wyndham bought points. It's only a 15% discount. You'd probably end up with temp silver (soon to be "champion") for two years before you were demoted back down to Advantage. That's probably how he got to the 25% discount and not 15%. He neglected to mention the 25% is only for two years.

Very unfair for bull dung to be used to describe a sales weasels half truths and Wyndham math. Bull dung may be stinky and seem to offer no value butt (no pun intended) cow pies and bull dung do have some beneficial uses compared to the sales weasels.

but isn’t that 25% or 15% discount only good for booking 2 months out from travel date? that does nothing for someone that travels peak times.
i have school kids booking out for holidays etc.

You are correct. That discount is for bookings made 60 days or less from checkin. They do run specials where certain locations are discounted. Those are available to everyone but they have restrictions. For starters they are only for certain travel dates. However, the travel dates can be longer then 60 days out. I have seen some with travel dates six months out. Some are only good for specific room types or days of week. If you’re flexible as to location, you can probably find something during the times you can travel. Many of the discounts are higher then 15%

What’s funny is I almost used “bat guano” but decided against it for that very reason.

I am at Grand Desert and the update the saleswoman offered the same tactic. When I pressed her she was saying the resale points would get the same benefits as VIP but would not be VIP qualifying points. I told her that is what I have now and she made up some lie that i got a really good deal from corporate because normally the points wouldn’t get the benefits. I told her to check the directory and she moved on to the select over CWA tactic. I rarely have issues in the updates due to my time spent on TUG. Knowledge is king and it is funnu to see these sales reps work on new lies only to catch them and see them turn and slink away tail between their legs. Lol

I found out the more you talk the longer the presentation lasts. A polite not interested or I have no questions usually works. The last one I sat in on at Bonnet Creek lasted no more then 20 minutes after he brought my file out in a box and asked what was going on with my account. LOL

That is a true observation. I learned pretty early to even limit my small talk, because that can become longer than you might think it would, and that extends the time period before they even start the selling. I'm always polite but not particularly talkative with them.

It also gives them more ammo. The more they know about you, the easier it is to figure out which tactics will hook you.

They wont have much info on me now with my new member number. LOL I ghosted all their notes on my old member number when I sold all ownership.
