We are slated to go an owner update this coming Sunday. The lady at the front desk told us that in the new year there are changes coming to our membership. We explained that we are resale owners, and so it probably wouldn't apply to us, she said it did. Basically she said that we can use our points, 200,000 for a cruise with carnival- no black out dates as well as with other cruise lines. She also said that instead of getting back cancelled points, they would be viewed as just regular points for you to use in the inventory, she also mentioned that the login process would be different, the front desk of the resort you were checking into would have more access to your account, and that there would be no fees associated with using RCI. Hmmm, sounds all a little bit too good to be true! Thoughts??? :)

I think she set the hook pretty good on you, don't let the salesman reel you in on Saturday...:)

except for the cruise part, pretty much true

Basically she said that we can use our points, 200,000 for a cruise with carnival- no black out dates as well as with other cruise lines.

probably not true

She also said that instead of getting back cancelled points, they would be viewed as just regular points for you to use in the inventory,

That change is in place already

she also mentioned that the login process would be different,

They came up with a new log in page a while back...once logged in though no different than ever
so true

the front desk of the resort you were checking into would have more access to your account,

maybe,... I know at National Harbor recently the guest services manager was able to extend my stay and take the points from my account to do it.

and that there would be no fees associated with using RCI.

already there is no annual membership fee, although we have to pay the exchange fees... I dont see that changing...

so half true

Cruises can be booked using wyndham points. Not sure all the details but it is there. Better option then using points to pay mfs.

Lol yes, they won't get any $$$ from me! ;). They said that you would no longer have to pay the exchange fee of whatever it is to use RCI. As for the cruises, I thought that if you purchased resale points you could not use it towards cruises. So is it true that if I cancel a reservation, then the points just go back into my account? They are no longer 'cancellation points' that I have to use up before the year is up? Hmmm, what if I book something from my points credit pool, make a reservation, cancel, will the points go back into my credit pool or do I have to use them up by the years end?

Will you be at Bonnet Creek?

This year, my cancelled points were no longer called canceled, but I still have to use them by the end of the year.

We find that front desk people. Are you talking about the Parking Pass gal? Seem to be basically misinformed. That DH's word . He refused to believe those gals could LIE and neither did the salesmen...they were innocently misinformed .

Hi Joan,
Merry Christmas! Yes we are here now at Bonnet Creek! Good to hear from you! Yes, I think that the front desk people will say anything to get you to sign up, however we were already planning to go to one, so it didn't matter! ;)

I agree the front desk people must have to refer so many guests to sales per day or month to meet their quota. Bad practice because you are on vacation.

Actually, the Front Desk checkin staff is NOW called "Universal Agent" ... where Wyndham as combined the Front Desk staff and Hang Tag staff (& functions) into ONE.

As for booked an extended stay and taking the points from your account ... I really wonder if that happened? That MIGHT happen if a handicap person or for an emergency ... but as the normal course of business .. might be all types of security issues.
