I just want to share that I used owner services this week to cancel one of my June reservations for South Carolina. I had reservations for Barony Beach, Grande Ocean and Oceanwatch. I decided to cancel two of the reservations before the 60 day cancellation. The rep I had was very nice. She reviewed my reservations and I’m not sure of what she did and how she did it, but when she finished working with whomever there at Marriott s I was placed on hold for a few times as it took time, my points were rearranged. I now had banked 2019 points that I could now use in 2021 and I had 2020 points that were banked tha I could use in 2022. Now I know part of it is I can extend points six months into the next year because I’m at the presidential level, but the 2019 banked points being able to be used beyond 2020 change was significant. I have points banked points for 2021-2022 and I HAVE NOT elected points for my three properties for 2021 yet. So if I end up canceling my Oceanwatch trip, I will have points from years 2019, 2020 for use in 2021 and 2022 without using any 2021 points. We are talking 10,000+ points. I didn’t ask for anything but to cancel a reservation and this was the response I received. I do believe that canceling before the 60 day deadline contributed to what they were able to as that probably increased flexibility, but that’s just my opinion.I’m retiring in 2021, so I’ll have plenty of time to use those points! In this case, great job, Marriott!
