Ovation "Limited Edition"/Guest Travel Loophole?

New to the forums here. I've lurked and searched a little, but wanted to see if anyone has run into this situation before.

I've read here that Wyndham's Limited Edition program has since discontinued the ability to book travel for guests. This is quite a bummer---because I'm getting rid of this timeshare specifically because I am no longer able to travel. I do, however, have family that are able to---and I'd like for them to be able to if Wyndham will offer me three years of points (which, I haven't contacted them yet per the recommendations read here---because I want to be able to jump on whatever deal they're willing to offer me.)

Ok, so here's my question:

Has anyone here had success in "gifting" a timeshare to a new owner---and then having that new owner take advantage of the Ovation "Limited Edition" program immediately? I'd like to gift it to a family member and then have them be able to use the points for the remaining years. But i obviously don't want to do this and leave them stuck with the timeshare and in a situation where Wyndham won't take it back. Obviously, if Wyndham would just allow guest reservations again under the program, this would be a non-issue. Is there any chance they might make an exception to this rule for long-term owners?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you to the people who provide their knowledge on this board. It's a very tough field to navigate on your own---so I am thankful a place like this exists.

I have heard of someone being allowed to add family members names to the deed at the same time or just before they started the ovations process mainly for the same reason you have, can't travel anymore. I am not sure if Wyndham charged the $299 fee to change the account (it was CWA so no need to re-record deed in her case) or if they waived the fee.

I would talk to wyndham to see if they can work with you to add one or more family members.

We don't know how many points you own, what your maintenance fees are, where they are deeded or if CWA points and if you are a VIP owner what level. Knowing those details would help us better advise you.

Depending on your answers you family might be well advised to have their names added to your deeds/contracts and keep what you have. Many people think they won't use the points but most of us know that once you start using what you have you will soon find yourself going more and loving having fully furnished condo type accommodations.

I don't know if there is a minimum length of time it would have to be solely in their names for Ovations to take it back. However if you left your name on and added theirs as survivor ownership they could use it. Then if at some future date all parties agreed that Ovations was what they wanted to do they would be able to use it for the three years.

Jan:

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm currently a "grandfathered" tier Silver Owner w/154,000 points annually with a Club Wyndham Plus membership and a Club Wyndham Select contract at Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach, FL. So other acronyms that I vaguely remember are Reciprocal ARP, UDI, PIC Plus, and PlusPartners. I know my points expire annually, and I get unlimited housekeeping credits.

My total HOA is $1048.74 with Maintenance @ $659.12, Reserve Fund @ $174.02, Property Tax @ $117.04, Program Fee @ $98.56. I pay monthly $87.40.
I pay $8.21 monthly for PIC for an annual total of $98.56.

Are you saying that I could add a family member as a survivor ownership interest, and they could travel as if they were owners? Or is that the same thing as adding the family member to the deed? Forgive my ignorance here.

It sounds like if they will let me add a family member (I have only one in mind specifically), THEN proceed with Ovation, it would get me where I need to be. There is a chance that my family member could fall in love with it and want to hang on to it.
