Our View of the "Bear Fire"

This is our view of the "Bear Fire" from our location in Nevada - it's about 40 miles away, but the prevailing winds are blowing the smoke our way. This 2,000 acre fire just started YESTERDAY! We aren't in any danger, but I hate to see it!

This is the worst smoke we ever had here - the photo actually makes it look brighter than it was. The little dot is the afternoon sun. It was about this time of year, too.

We usually are able to open our window to allow our whole house fan to run and pull air through our bedroom. It gets in the lower 60's almost every night in the Denver area, and we enjoy a cooler bedroom for sleeping. Rick had to close the window at 4 AM because the smell of smoke woke him up. He closed the blinds and it warmed up in our room, which kept me awake.

I am wondering where this smoke we are experiencing is coming from. I checked local news and nothing about a nearby fire. Might be this one.

doubtful. there are plenty of AQI maps ... https://fire.airnow.gov
for Denver, more likely southerly drift from Oregon & Idaho? This Bear bearly registers outside Reno. Heck, even Reno is quoted well < 100 AQI, so
OR & ID have plenty of places 150 & above. Bad time to be at Crater Lake.
