I paid $118 to upgrade a studio to 2 bedroom. Now I see a 1 bedroom at a different resort. If I do a retrade will I get $59 refund?

If not, can I cancel exchange and get $118 refund? Then use the studio to book the 1 bedroom?

Upgrade fees are non refundable outside of the 24-hour window. If you retrade to a smaller unit there is no refund, but if you retrade again to a 2BR, then you don't pay the upgrade fee again.

Thanks again for your prompt help.

In the other thread I learned that trading within Flex Time there was no upgrade fee. That was news to me but I'm rarely looking for last minute exchanges. Somehow I missed that tidbit (or forgot).

So, let me understand this further...if I accept the downgrade to a one bedroom I lose the $59, but if later I find another 2 bedroom I don't have to pay an upgrade fee again?

That is correct. You won't get the $59 back but you don't have to pay it again if you retrade unless you retrade into a 3BR.

Another trick is watching for the free upgrade promos that II sometimes has. They allow for free upgrades for a limited time. We often will retrade a studio into a 2BR placeholder exchange. Then when you retrade the system sees that you've upgraded and won't charge an additional upgrade fee since when you upgraded during the promo the fee of $0 was paid.

Unfortunately you lose the power of OGS when you do this, but it can save you money on upgrade fees if all you ever do is trade for instant exchange availability that is sitting online.

Correct you won't be charged again for the same upgrade you initially paid for.
