Last spring when our team won the championship, our captain broached an idea. In the winter league, you need to field a team of 12 for each match, but in the fall, players can play more than one .
he suggested we would get more practice if we fielded two teams in the fall, dividing our team, the Bocce Bandits, into the Banditos and the Bandettes. We would give up winning as much, but be stronger in the winter.
by the time we started in the fall, our captain had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and chemo did not work. He died in mid season. We believe he was watching along with my husband and several other spouses when the Bandettes trounced the Banditos in our match.

Tonight the Bandettes played the team that was ahead of us in the last match of the season. We beat them in the first game 13 to 4. we were victorious in the second game 13 to 12 to clinch the championship. We had dedicated The game to our captain and the Banditos came to watch.
postscript: the Banditos came in 3rd.
this season was the most fun of all the seasons, and an unexpected championship. We played many times with ladies having to roll two games, as people left for the holidays. In one game we were down 1 to 12 and came back to win the game.
we have lost two captains in the years we have been together, and lost many team members.
we Have had so much sickness and surgeries we call ourself the Bocce Band-Aids.

I've started playing Bocce here at our development in Nevada. It's been a lot of fun. I think the trash talk between teams is the high point. We play only for fun, so it's not nearly as competitive as a regular team league might be. But the game is highly enjoyable, and we always seem to have a good time. (BTW, we won today, 12-5. Yay us!!)

Congratulations to your group for the wins you've had. I hope it continues to bring you fun and entertainment.

We have 14 teams and play three games a match. 24 on a team. Sometimes the games are extremely competitive with all the balls within a foot of the pallino. One game might last an hour. we have five courts and each team has matching shirts. It’s hard to fit us in one venue for the year end banquet. Everybody on the team is supposed to play an equal number of games but we have one team that only lets the better players roll.

That's way more involved than we are here. Our development has seven courts, and we're still working our way through them, trying to find the one that is the least "lumpy." Nothing more aggravating that rolling a ball that takes a hard left turn due to the court having a huge rise in the middle.
