Just did a vacation package (NASCAR) that included 5 days at the Orlando Westgate Vacation and Spa. We did our mandatory visit. Whoa.. they are high pressure. Even after I explained that I own already in Orlando, and I own a vacation home in Fla they still pushed on! Anyway the long and short... they started at $42K and at the end offered $10K. They also had a deal that if you paid your maintenance fees on time they would give the money back in vacation credits to be used at the resort or towards a cruise etc. They also offer owners free use of amenities and vacation packages for $300. (sporting events, concerts etc)
I can see how people would want to be a part of Westgate. They also said they were the oldest and largest. We walked away... but then had to go back because they forgot to give us our $100 gift card:)

Ask anyone here, we all know Westgate is the worst. The resorts are nice, but the sales staff are extremely high pressure. Then, once you pass the 10-day rescission period, your $42000 purchase is now worth $0.

your $42000 purchase is now worth $0.
More like it's worth about -$3,000, which is the price they charge you for the privilege of surrendering the deed (if it's already fully paid off).
