We'll be at Cypress Harbor (near Sea World) for a couple of weeks beginning January 19. I want to keep up my 2-4 mile daily walk routine. Where can I find nice places to walk, preferably dirt paths and scenic, around Orlando? I wouldn't mind driving a few miles to get there.

My wife and I have enjoyed walking inside Disney World. You can park at Port Orleans Resort, just ask for a temporary parking pass. There are paved paths along the waterway with wonderful views. There is a loop path from Downtown Disney that runs through Sarasota Springs and back to Downtown Disney. Also, we have parked at the parking area outside Fort Wilderness and walked and biked inside the campground. There is a paved walking and biking path from the horse barn near the waterfront of Fort Wilderness to the Wilderness Lodge.

My wife and I are staying at Hilton Head, SC this week on our way to the Wyndham Cypress Palms next week. We stayed in Florida last winter booking last minute with great success. We plan to do the same thing this year. Perhaps we will see you on the path!

Few we've done

There is a nice nature trail at the Marriott on I-Drive. Sorry don't know name. Also it's nice to walk in Celebration especially around the lake.

I don"t know how far you want to go, but if you check www.floridatrails.org, you might spot something of interest. There are many wooded walking trails that are marked. There are also organized walks led by volunteer rangers. We have started exploring some. The marked trails range mainly from 2 miles to 7 miles. We did a 7 miles one last Sat at Silver River State park, maybe an hour north of Orlando==Brooksville area.

Just got back from CP. Wife and I walked to Grand Vista for preview.
Received $100 in Marriott money and got nice workout. Make a left out of resort, go to light and make another left. About 2 miles each way.

Not scenic but definitely worth $100 bucks.

Disney Access

Jack,

You can ask for a limited time parking pass at the resorts with gates. I have never had a problem with access. To access Sarasota Springs, park at downtown Disney. Parking is free. Walk toward the Rain Forest Cafe then bear right toward the Disney buses. Take a left on the sidewalk toward the Resort. You can walk through the resort and return at the Planet Hollywood end of Downtown Disney. To acess Fort Wilderness, follow the signs from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans. Continue until the end of the road and take a left. Follow for about 1/2 mile. The wilderness parking area will be on the right. I have parked there many times without a pass. Walk toward the bus stop and follow the path into the campground.

Do I need a pass of some kind to access the disney resorts or paths? I'll not be staying on Disney property.
Jack

no - just say you are visiting.

one exception - at busy times of the year they won't offsite guest to visit.
(or onsite but not there for that matter)

this is generally at night - since you are jogging during the day - don't think you will have any problems.
