I did not read it, but if it says anything like the reports we get from our two nephews, who are working on debris removal, it probably says not much is getting done.

Probably true that nothing is getting done but I don't see that as a reflection on ORE, just what is going on in the area. I find ORE to be proactive, responsive and easy to work with.

OK If you don't want to read it, this is what it says (in part): Bonaparte’s Quarters had minor damage and is expected to be closed for several more weeks. North Harbor Resort in Slidell sustained substantial damage and is closed until further notice, possibly through the end of 2006.

Being from Florida, I understand the "nothing getting done". It doesn't matter how proactive you are. With a hugh amount of hurricane damage in the area, it's often impossible to get supplies and labor to do any repairs.
It took us from September until mid January to get our roof fixed last year and my community didn't have nearly the damage that New Orleans suffered.

ORE has notified me that Hickory Hills in Gautier, Mississippi is also unavailable until further notice. We already have airline tickets and rental car in New Orleans for March 2006. Any suggestions for places to stay?

My comment was not about the resort or not wanting wanting to read about it.

It was about how screwed up the recovery effort is overall.

Since you have a car head East to Destin, FL. Destin has one of my favorite beaches in the US

How far is it to Destin from MSY and how long does it take to get there? Where are the best places to stay? Could you get me a RCI sighting for March 10-17? I've seen the post for an II sighting in New Orleans but I'm not affiliated with them. Thanks! ;)

Total Est. Time: 4 hours, 6 minutes Total Est. Distance: 249.95 miles

We have two nephews working on Katrina cleanup and it would be interesting to see the area. We drove Florida Highway 17 last January, and then on into Ft. Myers on I-75 and were surprised at the amount of damaged from Charlie that had not been addressed yet.

Unfortunately, the Florida Panhandle is a Spring Break mecca:
