I'm looking for some feedback on the sucess of these two systems. I like buying into one and being able to trade within the group without the exchange fees that II and RCI charge. When it comes right down to it, those fees really add alot to the cost of the week. I like Fairfield and Worldmark for this very reason. I've tried doing a search for any posts, but I don't seem to be putting in the right key words.

I looked up the ilx reference and found their website http://www.ilxinc.com/index_ilx.asp . I know nothing about them except there were references to lawsuits filed in the searches and from viewing one page they only have 9 resorts.

On the other hand I am familiar with ORE , and have a MROP resort, and thus ORE in a sense. There are many more resorts in that system, principally in the Western half of the US.

I also have a few Fairfield points and can answer questions regarding that also.

What exactly did you want to inquire about.

ORE inc.

How long have you have you owned with ORE? Are they easy to exchange within the group? I was watching one offering on ebay, it has since ended, and it looked like the maintenance fees were acceptable. Would you recommend buying into that group?

careful with mrop

You have to make sure you know what you are buying with mrop. The week on ebay that just sold was for a rotating red/white/blue week. That it sold for over $1000 was pretty surprising. I think the people bidding didn't realize it was not really for Kauai beach villas - the ebay listing was very misleading. I phoned ore to check on it and it was indeed a rotating week. I think you can find those for around $600 if you are patient. The non-rotating always red weeks seem to be around $1500 to $2000. They also sell Hawaii red weeks through their web site for I believe $2500. (Maybe that is their price for a non-rotating always red continental US week, I can't remember now.) (If you search google for MROP the ore web site comes up as one of the first options and you can check their pricing.

I have not owned for long within the ORE system, I'll be doing the second annual scheduling process with them in a few months.

The week I purchased however came with two credit weeks so in the past year or so I have had an accelerated education and have used 3 weeks within the system. The vacation guides are good to deal with over the phone and the web site is easy to use also.

I also watched one on ebay recently, the HI week that sold for $1,000. It seemed the seller didn't understand what he was selling and I was tempted to bid but I really should get rid of something if I won and I wasn't ready for that process.

I purchased to trade to add to my TS options. It seems to be working well and I would recommend buying into the group. If I lived on the West Coast my endorsement would be more forceful as there would be drivable locations and bonus week oportunities. Buy only a Red week though and not one of the ones that rotate.

The reservation process seems to be fair to all owners , so for trade or use a thumbs up.

Have you looked around the ORE website?, I know initially for me it was hard to locate on the internet.

There are other owners around Bogey21 (George?) and others responded to my questions when buying .I think generally most are happy as ORE and MROP messages are few on this board.

I looked at it and thought it was probably a week that came into ORE from the merger with Resorts West Vacation Club and as such would have reservation priority into HI. I thought the seller was misinformed, although I wasn't interested enough to do any investigation. To be accurate however in the ask the seller questions he represented it as a rotator.

Just goes to show the sellers are preying on the somewhat informed, and I could be the prey next time.

I own at a ORE-managed resort, but it is a fixed week, and I have never exchanged it through them. I did check out MROP pretty thoroughly when buying from ORE, however.

If you want a MROP, I believe it is possible to buy directly from ORE. I would call their corporate office and ask. Individuals sometimes list their MROP weeks on ORE's website, and they may ask even less, or add in a banked week or something.

MROP seems to emphasize standard resorts, primarily in the west part of the US. So, if that's what you want, they can provide it without the expense and hassles of using II or RCI. MROP might also be useful if you wanted to "test drive" both II and RCI; you can reserve a different resort throught MROP each year, and deposit it into II or RCI, assuming the resort you reserve is affiliated with the exchange company. I think ORE also bulk spacebanks some weeks, and lets you choose a week they've spacebanked.

ORE is a pretty nice outfit and easy to work with once you understand their annual scheduling process. Their vacation counselors are very co-operative. Check out their resorts carefully to make sure they suit your needs. If I were going for a MROP week, I'd try to buy an "All Red" for about $1,000. Keep an eye out for excessive closing costs. Transferring a MROP week costs about $85 so don't pay the $475 or something some charge.

I agree with previous posts, that ORE is a nice organization to deal with. Friendly, helpful counselors and But trades within are not free (cheaper than RCI but not free) and availability is as it is. Finding prime red weeks is not easier in ORE than anywhere else. Buying a unit just to trade because trading within the system is $40 (or whatever) cheaper is not likely to give you much satisfaction in the long run.

Guess what is back on Ebay?

That "HI" week we saw.

Last year, in appreciation of the advice I had received regarding purchasing a MROP week within the ORE system, I started a thread to consolidate ORE and MORP postings.

It ran for a few months but most owners seem to be happy campers and it received little attention and replies.

I'll attempt something similar this year beginning in March and running a month past annual scheduling, again in appreciation and to help any new members.
