So I'm looking at several ads that are for a fixed week at OL. They say they can be deposited for points, one ad specifically says the value is 159,000 points. Is this true? I thought only south lake and lake geneva could go to points ?

Many owners don't realize the points won't transfer upon resale. They won't even if the owner thinks they will.

Not Likely. Only Lake Gevena, South Beach, and Gatlinburg transfer as points resale with most benefits. Also, any orange lake land trust, but those are more restrictive.

A fixed week at orange lake can be exchanged (deposited) through RCI and the unit is assigned a trading power value. However, you would have to pay RCI membership separate if you do not already pay HICV membership fee, and exchange fees. If you do pay HICV membership fee, then you can request a free RCI account for your fixed OL week.

OL resale weeks have very little value in the resale market, some are given for free. The more expensive weeks I have seen resale are weeks 51 and 52.

There is a lot of inventory in Orlando, so unless you want a specific week and unit type that offers good trading power per maintenance fee and perks (access to the property and pools year round) , I would avoid them. But it can be a good option if you ever want to convert it by buying retail and it has a great points to mfs ratio.
