option for last minute exchange cancellation

We have an interval exchange week with deposited week for this coming Saturday. Due to a family emergency, we have to cancel it, and we only have 1 last e-plus trade left.

What is our option at this point? I do not think that we have time to use any exchange 60-days out if I try to book something with the last e-plus trade.

Does Interval offer any exception with family medical emergency?

Thanks,

Is the week enrolled? I’m thinking not since you bought Eplus. Going on that assumption make your last retrade for as far out as possible. Make sure it is more than 60 days from the current date. Then call II and get a cancellation replacement deposit. It will be good for one year from the date you cancel and shouldn’t have any Flexchange restrictions. You will need to pay another exchange fee to use it and it is possible the exchange fee won’t have the Marriott to Marriott/Vistana discount.

You may also be able to get them to use your last regrade to something much further out. Others have got that type of exception. This would require a phone call.

Outside of that you can always ask for an exception, but don’t expect it. Emergencies are what trip insurance is for.

It will be good for one Tamara from the date you cancel

I don't think there are very many Tamera's in the world, how about Debbie's or Susan's? Or Bob's or John's?

I’m not sure what you are asking?

If the current exchange is this Saturday, can they retrade more than 60 days out? I would think under 30 days if at all.

With the new eplus rules, your ability to use eplus disappeared last week. You can do a regular retrade for another full exchange fee but I believe that would only get you 30 days out. You can test that without actually confirming. Look in your history tab. Does it say Retrade or Eplus retrade. If you purchsed the eplus several months ago, you may still have that option and it should let you go 59 days from next Saturday. If you are outside of 60 days with that exchange, you would have the option to cancel the week and get an unrestricted replacement week that would be good for 1 year.

If the option is for retrade only, then tap it and see how far out it will let your search. I believe it would be 30 days and if you confirm an exchange within that window it would require another full exchange fee.

I purchased e-plus last year. The latest last re-trade I can make is 11/26/2024. i may have to call Interval to discuss the issue. hopefully, they can issue a replacement certificate with no restriction.

You would have to exchange for something around 11/26- more than 60 days out from tomorrow. Then tomorrow you would have to call and cancel it and request replacement week. It would be good until 9/23/2025. The replacement week would be unrestricted but you would have to pay a new exchange fee (and eplus if you want that).

I can only find a studio unit, not 2 bedroom we have because the week is Thanksgiving week. Does it make any difference? Thank everyone for the insights.

I don't believe Eplus has the 30 day restriction when inside 14 days. That only applies to regular retrades. Others have brought up the 14 day restriction on Eplus retrades if they made their initial exchange after February 1, 2024. So that is possible. If the initial trade was prior to 2/1, then what I states should still be accurate.

It may matter when taking the cancellation replacement. I understand that is based on what you've exchanged into last. Though not 100% sure. Someone recently reported they traded up into a 2BR and their cancellation replacement was for a 2BR. It is possible that your cancellation replacement could be for a studio if you retrade into a studio.

The replacement week should mirror the original deposit in everyway.
Doesnt matter what you exchanged into at any point.

@pinetree1 do as advised in #9, use you last eplus to exchange as far out as you can into something- it really doesn’t matter what/where.
But can you get out more 60 days still? I would think you are in flexchange now just a week from check in limited to exchanging 60 days out.

Once you use the last eplus Call II to cancel.
You will be given a replacement week good for 1 year from the day you cancel.
If you cancel more than 60 days from check it it will be unrestricted- you can request, buy eplus again, etc.
You will pay a new exchange fee.
If you don‘t cancel more than 60 days before your replacement week will be in flexchange.

II changed the rules on eplus so in the future you can only retrade up to 14 days before check in.

Thank everyone for valuable information.

I booked a no-name resort at Vegas studio unit for November 26, 2024 check-in last night.

This morning, I called Interval about my option for the medical emergency situation.

The 2 options are:

1. 1 trader to March 25, 2026(the original deposited week March 25, 2024) and pay full exchange fee and Eplus not-allowed

2. a replacement week, expire 1-year from today, and pay full exchange fee of $229, w/o Marriott-to-Marriott $164 discount fee, no restriction, E-plus allowed

I picked Option 2.
