College Football Power Rankings: Michigan rises to No. 2, South Carolina jumps into top 15, Oregon tumbles

Richard
I’m resigned to the fact that the playoff is expanding to 12 teams. I’m also resigned to the fact that Alabama does not deserve to be in the playoffs this year. They will probably be ranked 5 or 6 this week in the CFP but they are not a championship caliber team. There may be 4 teams currently deserving of a playoff spot, Georgia, Michigan, TCU and USC. IMHO, that is all. Don’t give me “Ohio State only lost one game.” They were blown out at home. That is disqualifying. Unless there are upsets this weekend, I can’t see anyone else deserving to get in. And that is with 4. 12 is going to give us more college football, which I live, but I think we’re going to see a lot of blowouts in the first 2 rounds.

I enjoy watching Pac-12 football, but I think Alabama and Ohio State are both probably better than USC. There is a decent chance USC would just get embarrassed in the playoffs like what happened to Oregon in week 1 against Georgia.

All these football teams minor league college NFL pro football teams. Are they really students athletic playing 15 or 16 football games per year. When are these football Galatros going to class?
These college football players needs to earn some big money, liked their coaches. IMHO.

Yep, Georgia is locked in as the top seed. It will be interesting to see if the committee drops TCU to 4 and moves Ohio State to 3. I think the committee will discuss dropping TCU out and moving Alabama up but I don’t think they will actually do it. My guess is their final rankings will be:
1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. USC
4. TCU

I believe they will not want to see TCU get slaughtered by Georgia in the championship game. Much better for that to happen in the semi-finals. Then the championship game can be Georgia vs, Michigan which are two very similar teams, although Georgia has more depth. Or, Georgia vs USC which could turn into an exciting shootout if USC‘s offense can keep them close. Their defense is hopeless.

USC? Maybe you should go be k to bed. I thought they lost last night. I’m no Ohio state fan but only losing to Michigan is the best loss.

They left TCU at 3. I think both semi-finals will be blowouts and the championship game between the Dawgs and Wolverines will be fairly competitive for 2-3 quarters and then Georgia will pull away thanks to more depth and experienced qb. Also, they’re used to this stage. Michigan isn’t and it can be a little overwhelming.

I agree. I'm a USC guy, but to me losing any game by 20 points is disqualifying and losing twice is disqualifying. I also think if you're not your conference champion, you should not get in while the champion gets left out. My Trojans just don't deserve to be there this season, and so I'm fine with the reality that they won't be. But they better win the Cotton Bowl against Tulane.

If Caleb is healthy, USC will destroy Tulane.

I’m with you on your thoughts about who should and shouldn’t be in. As I posted above, Alabama isn’t a championship caliber team this year. I always thought the BCS picking the 2 best teams was the best way to settle the championship. In most years, one or two teams clearly separate themselves from the pack. That’s why the CFP semifinals have mostly been blowouts. I love college football and having more, and more meaningful, games will be nice. That doesn’t mean they will be competitive games.
