Hi Madge:

How's it going? :D

You probably already have, sometime, but could you please explain what the following in our account is?

You have the following Week(s) available to Exchange
Please contact your Call Center to Exchange.

Control Number Travel From Travel To Description

Jim -

I'm not Madge, but you should read this section of the TUG Ask RCI FAQs that describes One-Plus-One weeks and then ask a follow-up question here if you need more info.

What are the targeted areas?

Quote from document DaveM referred to:
When you confirm an exchange in an area targeted for the One-Plus-One promotion, an additional vacation week at special rates is deposited into your account automatically.

What are the targeted areas? It use to be that exchanges to international destinations earned a one+one bonus, but I recently made an exchange to the Bahamas and did not receive such a bonus. Was this in error or was Bahamas not one of the targeted areas?

I read it and am still confused.

First it says, "When you confirm an exchange in an area targeted for the One-Plus-One promotion, an additional vacation week at special rates is deposited into your account automatically."

Then it lists the targeted areas. I don't recall confirming an exchange in any of the listed areas, so don't know how we got the One-Plus-One to begin with.

And since the listed areas are not any areas we have gone to, or plan to go to, I still have questions, how we got it and what it is good for, so I'll wait for Madge.

I interpret that paragraph to mean that the listed areas are the ones you can trade into with the 1+1 bonus. I'm not sure what the targeted areas are that earn you a 1+1 bonus. I know I received one 2 years ago for a trade to the Bahamas; in fact, it was the same resort that I just exchanged into for next year, but didn't get a 1+1 bonus certificate.

I'm guessing it's a matter of semantics. The sentence I referred to above says, "When you confirm an exchange in an area targeted . . . " Of course, read that the way it reads in English, that there would not be a One-Plus-One in our account unless we have already confirmed an exchange into a targeted area.

Do the targeted areas change? Could one of the exchanges we have confirmed have been a targeted area at that time, but not any more, or the list in the link is a list that changes? If that is the case, perhaps that should be mentioned there.

I did call a Guide once, when it first appeared a year or so ago, and I got the impression it wasn't worth anything to us. Now that I think about it, judging from the control number on it, we have deposited five weeks since that was put in our account. That would have been quite a long time ago.

In my capacity as a BBS administrator....

I have deleted several messages from this thread. Please carefully read the rules for posting in this forum. This forum is not the place for discussing experiences. It is solely for asking questions of RCI. If you have your own question, please post it to a separate thread and leave this one for Jim and his question.

Jim,

If you have not exchanged into any of the targeted destinations, then the One-Plus-One week may have been deposited in error by a Guide. Use it in good health. Send us an e-mail if you like and we'll be glad to check it out for you. Please use feedback@rci.com with TUG in the subject line.

Evelyn,

The Bahamas would qualify as an international destination. However, the One-Plus-One deposits are only made automatically when you confirm online. If you confirm with a Guide, just ask the Guide to deposit the One-Plus-One for you.

Hi Madge,

I just spoke with 2 vacation guides and both gave me different info than what you posted above. The first lady told me that vacation guides have no control over one-plus-one bonus certificates. The second guide told me that One-Plus-One bonuses are used only by Vacation Guides to search for extra vacations if the individual has nothing in their spacebank account. If a vacation Guide sees a One-plus-one bonus in someone's account, s/he is supposed to remove it. This latter explanation was from someone who claimed to have worked as an RCI VG for 10 years. I thought of trying a third VG, but decided instead to send an email to the address you gave above to see if my particular situation can be resolved.

Obviously, there is much confusion on the part of Vacation Guides as to what these 1+1 bonuses are.

Evelyn,

It seems time for a reminder to our Guides about the One-Plus-One program. I'm so sorry to hear that you made 3 fruitless calls about this! Let me know if you don't get a helpful answer from feedback@rci.

Hi Madge,

I did hear from feedback@rci and a one-plus-one bonus was deposited in my account. Thanks for asking.

Madge, is there any plans to make the One-Plus-Ones available to search online...I have 4 in my account and I don't know what I wil do with them...I really am an 'online' person :D .
TIA

GrayFal,

We do plan to make it possible to search online with several of the deposit types that are not accessible now. I don't have specifics yet, but this is a request that our technical development team knows about and hopes to bring about in the near future.

That would be a 'win-win' for both sides....I will get another exchange for a small fee and RCI would get a 'small fee'.

I was told a similar story, when I asked about using one of these 1+1's, the VG told me I shouldn't be able to 'see' these online in my account...they were for VGs use only????
Hope this resolves soon.
