One More AC Question

I want to thank all of you for the great info we have received from the time we decided to purchase several years ago.

I need some clarification about my AC and a deposit week. It has taken me a while to get this all down.

I split our 2 bedroom at Aruba Surf this summer and deposited the 1 bedroom. We were able to secure a one bedroom July 3rd at Maui Ocean Club for that. I was shocked as I was just calling to check the procedure out a few months ago and this was available.

I booked our lockout for Thanksgiving of 2009 but might consider depositing that as well since I now have to use my Cat 7 hotel with points by the end of the year.

So I have an AC I have to use by August and hope that something opens up in Hawaii during flexchange. If not I will use it somewhere in the states for a week.

Question: If we deposit our Surf Club Lockoff 1 room are we able to book at the Surf Club if it comes open at a later date within the time frames given? If not are we able to book during flexchange at the Surf Club if that is the resort we deposited?

If we are not allowed to book at the Surf Club are we permitted to book at The Marriott Ocean Club if it is available? We do not own at the Ocean Club.

Thanks for the help in advance.

BTW: After reading several months ago about the changes in point structure online I went looking for months to find a way to use our points. Lucky for us Marriott just contracted with Hawaiian Air and we were able to book 2 tickets fron Hawaii to Tahiti that ran $ 2400 with a Cat 7 hotel. Looks like the last of great deals we will have for a while.

We are very happy!!!!

You can use your lock-off from the Surf Club to trade back into the SC. The only restriction is that you can't use your AC to trade back into the SC, but you can use it for the Ocean Club.

Almost all AC have the restriction: You can not use an AC to obtain a room at your "home" resort.

Thank you. I had also feared we could not rebook into the Surf Club if I deposited my unit. I realize I might not get the Oceanside Building I have but am glad to hear we can use it.

So the AC is limited.....can it be used anywhere during flex change? I am certain we will find somewhere to go.

Thanks Again.

During Flexchange the AC can be used almost anywhere. There are a few resorts which don't allow AC exchanges (I think Four Seasons Aviara and a few others).
