Have never done an online search with Interval before. If they come up with the exchange I have requested, do I have to accept the exchange, or do I get a chance to accept it or reject it? Ian.

II will automatically confirm you, but they have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you get your confirmations via email, you have a chance to cancel. If you get them via mail, it will be too late.

No, you do not need to accept the exchange.

You will see the units and check in dates that you requested whether it is for one resort and one week or for multiple resorts over a two year period.

You have to actually select the unit and go through the confirmation process including paying the exchange fee and/or waiving the trip insurance. Only then is the transaction complete. You have 24 hours to cancel from the minute that the confirmation is complete.

Are you talking about II doing the search for you? If so, then you do NOT have 24 hours to cancel if they match the criteria you gave them. If you are talking about you going to the II website and putting in your criteria and then seeing something you like and booking it, then you have 24 hours to cancel it.

My personal opinion is that you should have 24 hours to cancel no matter what way you go.

Lisa :)

Even with an ongoing search that II confirms, you still have the 24 hours to cancel. I have done this more than once. The catch is that you need to know when II confirms it. If you receive the confirmation by mail it is already too late to cancel.

I just had a match to an ongoing search last weekend. It arrived via e-mail on Sunday morning. I called Sunday noon, canceled it, and restarted the request. No problem. This was not the first time I've done this.

As others noted, this only works if you request email confirmation and catch it immediately.

But you will lose your place in line from a tiebreaker standpoint.

No, you don't. The original exchange is reinstated, minus the unit you turned down, with the same start date.

I have been told otherwise. That your date of exchange request changes to when you reinstitute the search. But who really knows the way II and RCI do things.
