Old Wyndham Weeks in RCI?

I am trying to help a friend with her Wyndham/RCI weeks and all of my experience is with II. I have learned the II system from TUG so I told her I would try to figure out hers through asking TUG as well.

She has several weeks deposited into RCI prior to the change last fall. She was told by RCI that TPU was not a factor and that a red week was a red week, and they would not/could not give her a TPU number. How does she know what she is eligible to trade into?

She is trying to book/request an Atlantic Coast Florida or Florida Keys resort for this fall, and Aruba or St. Martin for April 2013.

Does anyone know if this will be possible for her?

On the new grid, TPU is NOT a factor and red is red but that isn't the case with the older deposits. They do have an approximate TPU value. I don't recall exactly what they are although if you go back and look in this forum (Wyndham on TUG), it was discussed pretty extensively in November of 2010 when RCI first rolled out TPU's. The lowest power ones I think were about 6 and the best were about 24, as I recall but it's been awhile so I'm not sure. Generally speaking, they aren't strong enough to pull too much well in advance of the travel date, but when the travel date is 30-45 days out, TPU costs generally drop and then the old deposits can pull a lot more. April 2013 will be outside the expiration dates since old deposits mean pre Jan 10, 2011. Her best bet for the fall times would be to call and put in an ongoing search. When TPU costs drop off, she might get a hit.

If your friends goes into her RCI account online she can find all deposits, and see how many TPU were assigned to the week(s) in question.

I had a 2010/wk12 that was deposited pre-TPU and it is in my list of deposits with the 13 TPU assigned to it.

Thanks learnalot!

What does "on the grid" mean?

There is now a fixed points grid for RCI exchanges using Wyndham points, which was put in place on or about January 10, 2011. It starts with 74K for a 1BR/studio off season. Best value is obviously for exchanges that would require a high TPU if booked through regular means, such as Disney, Manhattan Club, and various other high value weeks.

I haven't deposited any of my Wyndham points into RCI since the changes to RCI. Can anyone tell me how many points it would take to get in the Manhattan Club for a week? We usually always go to DC, but we are thinking it might be nice to take a break next year and do a different city!

It will depend on the season. They only have studio and 1br units so whatever the number of points for the season per the chart. If you just search, you will see the points cost.

Where is the chart? Sorry to be so ignorant! Is it somewhere on the RCI
Website?

Part of the problem is the generic use of the term "points" (RE: Manhattan Club request).

If you are talking about using your Wyndham points, the Wyndham web site would have that.

If you're talking about TPUs with RCI weeks, you will only be able to see how many are required by RCI if you are able to find one available for exchange and then the number of TPUs will be specific based on date and how far out you are seeking the trade (on the RCI web site).

P.S. I just took a look for Manhattan Club on RCI and they have nothing available for exchange there.

Thanks all. I've only traded thru RCI once, and that was years ago, so I
now have a steep learning curve! I'll go back and try to educate myself
on all the changes
