OLCC owners exchanging back into OLCC

I am thinking of purchasing an OLCC week to get around the 1 in 3. We've been several times and despite my attempts to expose my children to more grown up vacations, their favorite destination is still WDW and their favorite timeshare is OLCC. So, it's possible we'd like to visit 2 or more weeks per year, exchanging back in using our hypothetical Orange Lake week and our other non-Orange Lake weeks.

I see lots of West Village units for sale at give away prices. Other villages are rarer and more expensive. My question is, for an owner exchanging back into OLCC, are you restricted to your own village or can you exchange into any available village? For example, if I purchase a West Village week, can I exchange into North Village as often as I'd like?

TIA

then and now--

My parents own in West village and have traded 3X back into OLCC with non-OLCC timeshare.

"Then" was before they had West, North, RI, etc. and they were told they could "only" request where they owned, even though they were trading a non-OLCC. Thus, they requested West Tennis villas and were assigned East village--go figure.

"Now" each village has a different number and they have been able to pull pretty much any of them, depending on season. So, it really depends on the trade power of the week you own and the season--ex. summer they can get anything and Christmas would be only West Village. take care. Elaine

I did the exact thing as you would like to do and with great success. I own 1 week in the East village and 1 week at the Pines at Meadowridge in CO. I have traded back into OLCC about 7X with both weeks and my 2 bedroom units have got me 3 bedroom units each time! I have 3 exchanges lined up for the next 2 years to this point (all 3 bedrooms in the east village). the best part about it is the Pines week MF's are only $224 for the year!! one thing is I never see 2 bedroom units for RI available through RCI, I have great trades back into the East village where we love to go, I think I get preference into the E Village because I own there. I paid $1400 for my E Village unit on Ebay. If you want to get back into OLCC all the time you are going in the right direction. I recently purchased another 2 Bedroom in the E Village off ebay for about $1450 and its in the process of closing.

... one thing is I never see 2 bedroom units for RI available through RCI, ...

I only ever see RI units using my non-OLCC weeks.

Charford, if you think you'll be going to OLCC at the same time (ie: same usage week) every year for at least one of your visits, you might want to think about buying that particular week. Once you have a week at OLCC, then you can use your other weeks to trade in for the times you'll be returning the rest of the year. You'll at least save the exchange fee for one of your visits.

Yes, it would be great if I could get one of the kids spring breaks weeks. They have 2 consecutive weeks each March. I haven't seen any on ebay though. I have found ones on resale sites, but those are too expensive.

Make an offer for them - the "worst" that can happen is they turn you down. Who knows how long those weeks may have been on the resale sites, the owners might be motivated to sell if they get an offer, even if it's not near what they expect.

I'd put in an offer on one of the spring break weeks listed on a resale site perhaps a year or two ago. I offered 3K, about $500 below the asking price and it was rejected. The only other one I see on resale sites is asking 6K and didn't respond to my inquiry at all.

Since I last posted, there's been three OLCC units that I bid on on ebay and I won one of them! I'll give more details once the contract is signed. I am still thinking of buying one for my sister who lives 1000 miles away, but has the same spring break week as my kids. Many of the west village units are going unsold on ebay for $1 starting bids and no reserve. It's certainly an excellent time to buy OLCC.

OLCC trading back

Strange thing happened today,I was just fooling around seeing what I could trade my OLCC east village for in OLCC and the RCI page told me i can't because of the 3-4-5- year rule? Never had that happen before. Anyone heard if this is a "new" rule or glitch in the system? Al

Al, this must be a glitch. Just checked my west village unit and I can see (+ hold or confirm) all kinds of inventory for all four villages. I also checked with my non-OLCC weeks and I don't get the 3-4-5-year rule message for any of the villages. You might want to try again.

Congratulations, charford! Hope you got a great deal.

Well, I've sent the money and the contract in, so assuming there are no hang-ups on the other end, I should own my OLCC week in a few weeks. I paid $1000 including closing costs for a 2 bedroom week 47 in the North Village. Week 47 is usually Thanksgiving week and my kids have a 5 day weekend at that time, so maybe we'll make it a 9 day weekend. ;) Or we can trade it for spring break, or rent it out.

I was bidding on a March break week for my sister, but it went a little high for my pocketbook. 1 bedroom, week 11 in West Village for just over $200 plus closing costs.

Oops! Forgot to add: Ebay had sent me a coupon!! for 15% off a purchase (max $100) so I actually paid $900 including closing costs. The seller received $1000.

you can go on Orange County comptrolers website and look up any name and see what was paid for any week and what the resale price was.
