First, I'm confused. Where did that $500 come from? Was that the transfer costs? Second, if you don't need 98,000 points then why not look at a 49,500 point unit? It cuts your annual fees in half. Or even a biennial or triennial to cut even further but still have the access you're looking for?

I'm ruminating on this option. It directly hits my needs. One challenge is I really don't know exactly how many vacation points I will use 2 years from now. Question: If I went the 49,500 option (24,750 per year), then how can I acquire more points if I want to trade up? Is that where the RCI "buy points" feature for $0.03 per point comes in? Or is there a better option with the vacation clubs for access to points?

Thanks

Trading is not your only option when you have an RCI or II account. If there's a year where you don't have enough points there's a couple of options:
  1. As you mention buy points.
  2. Find another RCI/II member that's willing to sell/transfer points to you. That can be done via the TUG Marketplace.
  3. Assuming you bought Vacation Village, use your bonus week. A bonus week doesn't use points.
  4. Buy a getaway week.
  5. Advertise in the TUG Marketplace for the week you want. Someone may be willing to help you out.
If you do 3, 4, or 5 you can then let your points roll over to the next year giving you more options the following year.
