I’m supposedly divesting of timeshares.

And suddenly I’ve purchased two resale DVC contracts.

The only way this is consistent with my goals is that it’s a move towards owning where I want to stay. Within reason. I’m still keeping a Marriott Mountainside for trading. And I’m not selling any DVC points for the time being.

Anyway: pending ROFR a 50 point contract at Beach Club Villas, and a 90 point contract at Copper Creek. To add to a 25 point contract at HHI and an 85 point contract at the Grand Californian.

My goal is to not ride a Disney bus. Unless of course @simpsontruckdriver is at the wheel. 😉

Wish me luck.

DVC is like crack , I have no idea how I have ended up with 1,400 points and now 2 UYs. We own AUL, RIV & VGF. I am now branching out and purchasing Wyndham ans HGVC resale. Disney has been so good to our family , we love it there.

It's more fun to manage the complications we put on ourselves. :)

Sometimes I’m so hopelessly confused about where the points for a given reservation have come from that I need to call member services for help.

Because we have small contracts, we often have a jumble of sources of points making up any given reservation. Some combo of banked, borrowed, transferred and OTU points, from different UY.

”So where are all these points going if I cancel this reservation?”

with DVC you never know where they are going when you cance, borrowed back to banked back to holding

Good luck on your ROFR

@heathpack Copper Creek is a beautiful place. When I reserved a studio there for DD I mentioned it was part of their belated honeymoon…..and they were lucky they were given the corner studio that is gigantic. I think there are only 3 like that. She will never get that lucky again. We don’t own there but I had waitlisted and stalked and got 4 consecutive nights….during Easter week. Couldn’t believe it.
They also restarted the small boat from there to Bay Lake tower.
And walking to Epcot via the Gateway is such a great thing.
Now you have to buy at Animal Kingdom Lodge so you don’t have to take a bus to AK!!!
No offense @simpsontruckdriver . The drivers are great. I really don’t know how you do it. There is just something really awful about squeezing onto a bus after fireworks on a hot day at Magic Kingdom.
Good luck with the ROFR wait.

Yeah, on those hot Summer nights, our bus A/C units are working OT! But, I rarely work Magic Kingdom, usually Hollywood Studios. The All-Stars resort buses are usually packed, so we have our floaters ready to assist. Other DVC resorts aren't as bad at closing at DHS, AK, or EC.

How else can they get there? There’s no walking path between AKL and AK, so it’s Disney bus, rideshare, taxi, or drive yourself. Maybe someday there will be a Skyliner, but that’s a maybe.

I am not @nomoretslt however- we are ok with driving to some of the parks. The MK is a PIA. And walking, boating or monorailing in are the best. I guess maybe gondola-ing will be ok too- I think we can do that from BCV-EPCOT-HS. But driving from AKL to AK is cool, or from CC to nonMK parks. Just ugh on waiting for a bus then all of the busstops and while being packed in like sardines. At least thats how I remember it.

We own 1,500 points, bought 1,000 direct OKW this past May at $95 per point. The MF's are some of the highest, but our 250 points we originally had were set to expire in 2042. I thought we should buy more for our kids and grandkids to use.

perhaps I should have added more context to my post. Trying to get to AK for early opening from Copper Creek or BLT or even BCV via bus is a very long wait/trek. Especially when you have to wait because the bus fills with others wanting to get to early opening. It’s also a long car ride from BLT or CC. AK is the only park I’ll drive to But will usually skip it when staying at BLT. Of course any seasoned DVCer knows there is no walking path from AKL to AK. But it is a much shorter bus ride, and a quick car ride especially if you are at Kidani with underneath parking. it was an attempt at humor….

At least if you stay at either AKL, you're the only stops for AK. Same with Riviera, either All-Star resorts, either Port Orleans resorts (Disney Springs goes to both, other theme parks have separate buses), Pop Century, and Art of Animation. With the EPCOT DVC resorts, all theme parks except Magic go to all 3 resorts, MK has 2 buses (one to BW, the other to Yacht and Beach Club). If you go to a moderate or higher resorts, you probably won't be "packed in like sardines" unless you go in @ Rope Drop and/or leave @ closing. Also, because Magic Kingdom is the #1 vacation destination, most buses will be crowded, other resorts not so much.

I’m sorry I didn’t catch that. I mostly wanted @heathpack to know that the only way from AKV to AK is via some kind of motor vehicle on the roadway - no boat, monorail or Skyliner. ;)

One of the reasons we like Kidani better than Jambo is that we can park under the Kidani building, near “our” elevator.

You can get more points to use for a single stay by banking one year and borrowing the next year to get three years worth of points. 150 points at BCV could get you a nice short stay in a one bedroom. 270 at CC gives you maybe a weeks stay. 255 at GCV makes a nice stay, too.

Yes I know, these are our 3rd and 4th DVC contracts. We’ve been DVC members for 17 years. We only own small contracts and we bank, borrow, transfer, and purchase one time use points regularly.
