Does anyone know any 'secrets' for cheap flights to Nassau? I fly out of Philly or BWI and can only seem to find flights priced around $500?

Spirit flies directly from Atlantic City to Nassau. If you have their credit card and use the right coupon you can become a member of their $9 club, and get a flight for $9. I do that out of FLL, but we pay extra for bags and "big front seats". There are a number of FEES tacked on because it's an international flight.

$500 to Nassau doesn't sound unreasonable. But I always put my dates into a fare finder (e.g. SmarterTravel) and let them email me if they find a cheaper flight.

I had the old Spirit credit card and it automatically paid for the $9 club. Spirit then switched to a different bank for their credit card and now the customer is charged to belong to the $9 club. I forget now what the yearly free is but the $9 fee is usually posted within a limited time and close to the time of the flight and I no longer belong because the flights are inconvenient for my schedule. If you can fly last minute and are going where the $9 flight is going, I suppose it is cost effective but for me, it is a waste of money.

Also with all of Spirits add on fees, the cost is nowhere near $9.
