I have a request in with II for the 4 oceanfront HHI Marriotts for a specific August 2009 week, trading an Easter 2009 Cypress Harbour, and am aware I may not get the exchange as requested. So, I wanted more info about the other Marriott HHI properties, especially if there is designated beach access for them and do any of them have particularly inviting pools? I will be traveling with my family, ages 9-16, at that time, and we do not golf. TIA.

I'd wait for a while longer before adding any others, especially if it is a late August week. I think your chances are pretty good, especially with the Marriott priority, that you will get one of the four. Give it some time.

I agree you should be more patient but FYI, at Sunset Pointe you get a gate pass to use the beach access at Palmetto Dunes. Short drive from Sunset Pointe to the beach.

How long have you had the request in for? The week you are looking for in HH is platinum, but is the Easter 2009 week at Cypress also platinum? If it is, you shouldn't have a problem getting one of your requests, you just might have to wait a bit and be patient. If Cypress isn't a platinum week, then you could add other resorts after a few months.
We stayed at Marriott's Harbour Club in Harbour Town and used the beach by the Monarch, the Sea Pines Beach Club entrance. It was about 3 miles away and had free access. Although very nice, there is only one small pool at Harbour Club.

I'll give my two cents on the interior Marriotts.

None of them are much to write home about unless you are looking for something really specific. The ones at Shelter Cove are on the water (waterview), but no beach. Good shopping right next door and some restaurants within walking distance. The ones in Harbor Town are small and not on the water, but you can walk/bike to everything in Sea Pines. Plenty of good shopping and dining. You get free golf at one of them (can't recall which one).

Thanks for the replies. After the first two reassuring responses, I actually deleted the request for the Monarch, and left the request for only the SW, GO, and BB. Just in case my parents want to join us, I would rather have a sleeps 8 possibility, and I now realize that it is probably attainable. I deposited a platinum Cypress Harbour week about 11 months out, but I put in the HHI request only this week (exactly a year out from the desired week).

Actually Harbor Club in SP is about 1200-1400 sq ft and has two master bedrooms suites. It does not have large or multiple pools or amenities but the resort is across from the marina and a playground.

Heritage Club has golf for Marriott owners and exchangers. Also the same size units as Harbor Town but on a side street in SP. This would be a last choice unless I wanted to golf as that is a big savings.

Monarch is beachfront but has twin beds in the 2nd bedroom and more low key than the top 3 choices. Very popular because of the SP location.

I don't think you'll have a problem if you are trading for August for GO,Surfwatch or Barony but you'll need patience. II does not have weeks as far in advance as RCI.

I also agree with PCGirl. Harbor Club is also at the very end and near the pier. Easy access to boat cruises and kayaking of the beach with in walking distance. (this beach is not for swimming - just for boat launch etc. Although HC is quieter it is a very nice resort and has the second largest units (GO is the biggest units).

What week in August are you looking to get?

Just to clarify my post above, I wasn't referring to the unit size when I said the two in Harbor Town were small. I meant that there weren't a lot of units in the two resort complexes. I should have been more clear.

Well, it all changed this AM when I grabbed a 2BR Banff Rocky Mountain Resort for late July. So, I am down to one specific check in date (Friday only) to match up with a family event in Nashville. Checkin 8/7/09 only.

Looks like Barony, Ocean Watch, Surfwatch and Heritage Club are the only ones with a Friday check-in.

Cindala, You're right! I hadn't noticed that relevant fact. Now I will leave the request alone and let II do its thing.
