I have an ongoing search with II using a third week in June reservation at OceanWatch for Marriott Maui – Lahaina & Napili Towers any week in May or first week of June. I put in the request when I made the OceanWatch reservation. How much longer should I wait? I can't make airfare reservations until I get a confirmation.

II calls me almost every day with other timeshare options in Maui, but I'm hoping getting a Marriott property will get us a better room. I'm afraid of an "over the garbage bins" or parking lot view in another timeshare there.

It's just the 2 of us and I know we could probably get a 1 bedroom in the Maui Ocean Club, but I hate giving up a full kitchen/refrigerator for a studio sized refrigerator.

It's a Request First so I've been hoping Marriott would want my OceanWatch week for a points person bad enough to give me the towers room.

I would feel better about your chances if you were also open to MMO instead of just MM1. That being said, there is still alot of time to match MM1 and it is a great property. I've had good luck trading into a 1BR into each of MMO and MM1 (using a 2BR to downtrade to a 1BR) but I put either tower into the request and always matched one of the two -- and trying for a specific weekend, not just the broader period.

Again, because you have a broad period, I think you will get it. I have no idea if the Request First makes a difference. If you know you will not use the OceanWatch, I would just deposit it, because you have deterioriating trade power the closer to your check-in date you get. Just a thought.

Best,

Greg

Fuel prices are predicted to drop so hopefully waiting will bring confirmation and savings.

Fuel prices are due to drop? So we should wait to book flights to Hawaii for next June?

You should wait to book because best prices to Hawaii are rarely 10 months out. You will likely get a better price closer in.

Well, I guess I'm just wishing them good luck on the confirmation and hoping that waiting has a silver lining. I certainly can't give advise on timing.

Thanks Ryan! We have the places booked, just the airfare and we will be Hawaii bound in June 2016
